It moved out of the Irish pub a while ago, after one too many local stabbings. :-)

Somebody tried to air assault over a scout screen... totally deserved the stabbing.

So how far away are you from the pub then. (I'm thinking walking distance from King's X.)

Is it available on Saturdays, IIRC that was the problem with previously if its the one Ginger moved to

For a tournament to be viable we need
1- a venue, opening 9-6 at least with tables
2- a local to liase with venue+advertise locally
3- 4+ locals to provide a basis for the numbers

The irish pub had 3 successful tournaments, attempts at tanelorn+tabletop nation have been non-starters with lack of 2+3

Shocked to hear about the player issue!
Just started playing but the Central London Gaming Club got 8 very active players alone (incl. me)...

The club Carlos is talking about is right next to Mornington Crescent tube station.

Tim, we moved from the "Irish" pub to "Escape", another pub a few mins further north by Mornington Crescent tube, but still near Euston station. It is just about in "walking distance" from King's Cross - for those determined to avoid using the tube ;)

It can certainly hold 9x tables, and maybe up to 12 at a squash, so between 18-24 players (don't all rush at once).

The main question is whether we can pursuade the owner to open up ~09:00 so we can set up for 10:00 start; otherwise it could end quite late. I do not think that anyone has approached him on this, though may be wrong.

However the other important question is when to hold this - suggestions welcome.

Timing is a good question, as there's an event most months now looking into 2013. That's not to say that we couldn't have 2 events in one month mind you!

On the point 3, i'm sure we could get a fair number of players from around London (Clapham has quite a few now too) - most of my lot being keener on the one day 3k events than full weekenders. If a decent venue can be located and secured for a reasonable price there's no reason we couldn't have a London event this year i guess.

Pub in question has a fully working Indian cuisine kitchen (not bad!) so we probably could get the room for free if that means 10+ people eating and drinking during the day.

Niiice... room full of gamers, throw an Indian dish or two into the mix, that's going to be one lovely stink ;) at least a post-tournament curry wouldn't be out of the question for most :D

If there's potential for a 1 day London tourney, I'd be more than interested, certainly do-able from MK via the trains. Looking at weekend ticket fares at the mo, off peak open return seems a bargain at £14.50.

I'd be happy to bring along some of our scenery too if needed - can supply around 20 woods and a bunch of buildings etc.

I'd do my best to attend a London event, on the excuse of giving the wife a long weekend in London. ;-)

There are double doors leading to a beer garden. We can prop them open for the duration.

Fantastic... I vote for a summer tournament in the big smoke... no better way to spend the down time between games nursing a nice cold pint in a beer garden :)
