This list is based on the Epic: Raiders Necron army list and so special thanks must be given to all the NetEA
Necron play testers on the tactical command forums (http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/index.php)
and to William L. Sturtevant for his work.

Most changes made to the list are cosmetic in nature and designed to simplify the list for tournament play

I'll only say that EUK playtesters and committee don't get their names in any codex for their efforts.

Once again, it's not EpicUK.... Just (some) EpicUK players who went out of their way to make it known... A list I make sucks while a near identical list made by EpicUK is awesome. Tim, Steve, if I havent' said it, thanks for the credit. Don't think me ungrateful. Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive.

Not saying EpicUK are trying to undermine my list at all. I don't even know the leadership structure at EpicUK. To paraphrase what you told me years back, what EpicUK does doesn't concern me... And it doesn't. My comments weren't an indictment, just my opinion, and what I got was a bunch of flak from EpicUK players who talked about ths Thurgrimm's list like it was a pariah. Then a near identical version of my list gets posted on a UK forum and it is lauded as being spectacular. I don't mind that it was copied, modified, sourced, whatever. What I mind is the attitude that my list sucked while a near identical list was marvelous, seemingly based only on who had put it out there. I got the same attitude about the Necrons, told that I was a terrible list maker. Then the Necron UK list comes out with very few modifications and it is a Mona Lisa. It's annoying. (see video above)

That's a very rose tinted version of events. I'm sure people aren't interested in having the ins and outs repeated but nevertheless I feel that I have to say that there is another side to this version of events.

The reason that you don't get any help from these particular playtesters is that it's just too frustrating and infuriating for us trying to work with you. Be that because of conflicting personalities or work styles, whatever. No evil conspiricies or anything at all to do with E-UK.

youd have to ban mechanicus from taking titans (weird, as there's no other army in the whole setting more likely to operate alongside titans, including marines and.IG). Best to let squats be squats, and counts as at your own pleasure.

I don't see why. People wanting to use mechanicus as squats can self limit or sub in a land train for a titan as "counts as". The Leviathon and collossus make for great majoris/minoris stand ins and squat warriors are essentially the same as Skitarii. It's not unimaginable for the mechanicus to have skimmer vehicles and skitarii outrider style tracked units (Gyrocopters and Trikes) and some of the more esoteric style weapons like mole mortars etc are very mechanicus along with Praetorians making excellent exo-armoured squats and thunderers subbing for gun servitors.

It allows for the fleshing out of the mechanicus whilst still being pretty true to fluff, as well as introducing a new race that fits the recent 40K lore and also allows the squat players to use theirn shinys without turning the gaming clock back by ten years.

I honestly don't see any downsides. There's already been plenty of work done on squats lists to be adapted as a good base line without having to start from scratch too.

There's no army that works.with titans more than the mechanics skitarii armies. You're just making stuff up to justify your view.to say otherwise.

Just let the counts as rule cover such a half proxy, rather than making up your own background.

Eh? I'm not saying anywhere that a mechanicus/squat army wouldn't have access to Titans. Just that people who want to use their mechanicus army as squats can either: Self limit on selecting titans or use a landtrain model to represent a titan.

The only one that may be a bit problematic is the warhound but again, self-limitation by the fluffy squat players covers that base quite nicely. People who want to use the list as actual mechanicus can warhound away to their heart's content.

I really don't understand your post at all Ben, it makes no sense to me at all (In the language, sense).

Sorry my impression was that you thought your extant mancunian squat list made a good amechanicus proxy list, not that you thought the squat list should be a mash of both mech (titans) and squat (land trains etc) elements at the same time.

If you're not sticking with your squat list being squat units-only and are happy with a less "squattish" squat list*, then my issue does become a a non concern. Personally I prefer lists to stand alone rather.than be generic.and.represent multiple things at once.

* actually everybody's done that so far, since the stats for a lot of units are well adrift from their original unit stats /playstyles anyway, in all "squat" lists I've seen.

Stomp, to put it another way, I get what you're saying, but I think the stylistic similarities are considerably less close than say White Scars and Codex marines, or Baran and Krieg, and thus they easily pass the notability test and should have two separate lists with different playstyles, special rules, and composition rules, instead of a single generic list.

Well it was more or less weekly for a good couple of months before the EUK list was written, and then more-or-less weekly for the time the list was being worked on by EUK.

So I'd say that at least 3 games is true, if not particularly accurate (maybe 8 or 9, whoop).

No need Ben, no need.

To publicly cast doubt on someone's (Never mind a whole group of people's) integrity based on no evidence whatsoever is a very good way of ensuring a very uncomfortable encounter for yourself, should your paths cross in the future. ;-p (See I added a jokey face, so it's ok)

It was a good few games, like Daz says at least one game of Necrons a week for a good 4 or 5 months and much discussion before and afterwards.

Because clearly the dozens of people who tested the list for the months before were complete idiots. Yeah, that pretty much highlights what I was complaining about.
