I am going to start making my first proper colony for my game setting using my own buildings.
I will, as is my want base them on steel tiles.
Apart from the fact it clearly defines the BUA it will allow me to make some permanent track/paved features.
Given the premise that the OKI Modular Habitation Units (MHUs) are prefabs and dropped into place it makes sense to me that the same will be done with a walking area.
I will stick on the tiles between the MHUs some very slightly raised paths.
There is a small town centre which will have various optional bits to go in there as the mood takes me.
I am also working on some OKI perimeter walls which will be available in a month or two as will some solar towers and wind towers.

But I am not sure if I like the set up.
I am torn, as I want to create a decent sized town with a few buildings but I am not sure they should be this close?
I guess running utilities would be cheaper with the MHUs closer and the perimeter walls will be shorter and thus cheaper.
I guess when on an alien planet being closer feels safer.
I think that justifies not making the most of the space a new colony world has to offer, what do you think?
