I'll put up a rundown of my games in a min, but needless to say overall a great event, and hopefully i'll be able to make it to the next one there :)

I was very impressed by Rob's performance at the event as well, and it would seem the last 3-4 weeks games paid off in the end! with any luck he'll be back for the Cambridge event in September, and maybe even with his own army this time ;)

Here's a brief roundup of my games:

The first game's result against Ryan really didn't do his overall performance justice, as it was only really the last turn where things really went pear shaped for him. Clustering the boyz mob near the blitz may not have been on hindsight a great idea, as the Manticore battery did bad things to them, and my activations finally came together allowing me to get a very nice assault on the bts stompa mob, which was more effective than even i was hoping for, wiping out the formation and giving me nothing unbroken in my half to boost me from a 2-0 to a 4-0 in a single stroke.

Game 2 against Dave was very cagey, with me taking a fairly big risk to castle my army in a corner away from everything in the hope of avoiding the bombardment and summary death company battering, which i did - although i maybe went a bit too far with it, as it was a long slog back to the middle, and with a couple of less than ideal activation failures my strike on his blitz stalled. Dave's dice were a very mixed bag as well, after firstly failing to kill my warhounds with terminators and death company, and later on in the game making 12 saves on his 2 remaining terminator stands to keep both alive and the score to a dead draw.

Game 3 against Gavins Eldar was an interesting one, very cautios first turn on both sides while i was trying to guage how much risk the storm serpents and webway based assault units were going to prove to be, and gavin trying a avoid me battering his units from afar. There were a number of occasions where things could have gone very wrong for me, though after a couple of key failed activations for gavin, which ended up embroiling is eldar war of attrition against the guard, which needless to say did not end well for the pointy eared space elves. By the end of turn 3 it was pretty much all over, with me pulling a 3-0 win (very close to a 5-0 after i almost trapped his BTS in the webway as well, but Gavin was spared this after some more failed activations). So, 3 great games, and a very good venue all helped make it another excellent Epic event :)

I was also happy to see Rob enjoy the event, and hopefully i'll be getting him along to a few more in the future!

Sadly i can't make it to BoTCH this year so your revenge will have to wait! ;)

Hoping to drag him along to the next Open War if possible, and looking at maybe trying to get another 1 or 2 people down to Cambridge if i can - I finally seem to be getting there on a club level with persuading people how awesome Epic is and why they need to play it :)

Thanks to Steve, Tim and everyone else who helped organise and attended. Im glad people seemed to like the venue (I work there so I like it when people are happy coming here to play) and I hope we can make Westbury a regular stop on the Euk calendar. I really enjoyed the day and my 3 games were great fun, I think it is testament to the type of players attending that my army can get slapped all over the table and I still loved every minute of it. I hope to get to some more tourneys in the future and play some more of you guys.

Good to meet everyone on the day and congratulations to all the winners. Thanks to Tim H, Dave T and Steve (and all at Epic UK) for a job well done. Cheers also to Tom from Triple Helix for being the perfect host.

My Ulthwe lads were truly diced, sliced and spliced on the day. They took one hell of a beating. Still, all good experience :0) and looking forward to more games in time to come. I'll try and get in loads of games in before the next event though as have a while to go before able to cope with the tournament pace.

10)Here's how my army looked on Saturday before they had the crap kicked out of them.

Beautiful army there. Nice photo's all round... and Dave wasn't plotting his next move, he was using jedi mind tricks on his opp's dice ;)

Cheers Mephiston :0)

Hehe, seems Dave's Jedi mind tricks certainly worked for his army on the day "These are not the Blood Angels you're looking for".

Really like those eldar,.also like how your upgrades are on different shaped bases to their parent troupe....how did you make the firestorms?

There were a lot of cool conversions in this army; check out the Cobra, Vampire and especially the Wraithgate , a really simple conversion that even I might consider (as a 6mm modelling novice :))

Thanks Kyussy and cheers for giving me a lift back to Westbury station Ginger.

The round upgrade bases just seemed the obvious choice at the time. Two Wraithguard per round base really helps to maximise your models available too.

The Firestorm turrets were just 40k Space Marine backpacks with 3 different lengths of wire placed in holes drilled into the backpacks. These backpack turrets were then just glued on top of the Falcons.

The Vampire tail wings are from a 40k Dark Eldar Hellion Skyboard.

The old style Cobra was too small when placed next to one of the new EOV. Therefore to bulk it out I added Night Spinner side wings and the spare Vampire Hunter Tail fin.

The objective markers (the blue ones) were made from raw plugs :D
