I think as a community we'll be fine.

yes, yes it will, I for one was enticed back into epic by seeing the miniatures for sale on the GW and FW websites.... asking around and I was directed to this awesome community, had those resources disappeared, I wouldn't be playing epic right now....

That. Because not everyone tempted to play Epic frequent here. I know some people in local club that would nt use proxies or forumware. We need some official minatures to keep presence on GW website and catch potential players's attention.

To find a silver lining, finecast bfg capital ships could be quite nice (well maybe every 1 in 4 :P) and light too

given how much GW wants to charge for their BFG line, and the mass of other available spaceship providers, i dont ever see myself buying any BFG from them. doubly so with finecast. i havent bought a single finecast figure and i have no intentions of starting now.

Phasing out could mean a lot of things. Slow conversion of the molds to resin, just never making new molds when the old ones wear out, or breaking everything six months into next year and telling us all to play 40K. :P

Likewise for me. The price increase for finecast plus the initial poor quality had put me off. Plus I have a backlog of figures to paint for WFB, W40K and LOTR. I might have to succumb for a couple of finecast figures for LOTR to finish off my armies but otherwise I will pass.

I'm still concerned about finecast tbh, a friend of mine bought the new empire witch hunter this weekend and it had bubbling all over the gun stock, hem of the cloak and fingers of one hand (the fingers looked like they'd been squashed)

I don't think GW will convert to finecast, and if they remove the SG line it allows them to potentially release them as big-box one off sets in future, provided dreadfleet flopping so hard didn't discourage them......

I'm not too worried. I've got plenty of gothic, voss, and kal duraish pattern cruisers that I am more than happy to supplement with stuff from 3rd parties (e.g. Spartn Games, et.al.) The galaxy is a big place after all. Between DRm and EW, I'm more than happy with the 6mm stuff that I can acquire. And for anyone into DreadFleet / Man-o-War, it appears that Uncharted Seas might be your ticket.

Granted I do want to see continued support from GW/FW, it's just that IMO we'll be JUST fine however.

Hi Jimmy- were you the one over on SG Forums that did a whole fleet using kal duraish (SP??) prows? If so they were very cool.

I have cut up some plastic Imperial cruisers with resin Voss prows- just need to get them painted but lacking the motivation as no one locally is playing BFG.

Cheers

James

I see this said over and again. What I think is not being taken into account is that the game will die with the community.

If GW is not going to sell/support these minis, new players are going to be few and far between, regardless of where they can get 'alternate' minis.

Yes it will be played, but the resurgance (as happened with a lot of SG), will not come again.

oh
hell
no

I've told Apocalypse players the opposite. Want to play big, epic battles? Save thousands of dollars on models, miniatures, paint and glue and play real Epic. They shun me now.

FB, I agree with you oin this one, as much as i dislike some of gws sales pitches i completely agree with you that
if the SG goes from the website it may have a fairly large impact on new nubers getting into the game.

Im praying that they do a re release of sm game as they did with the space hulk game.

They must be stupid as i reckon how ever many they produced they would all sell. All the fans out there of
the HH story and there are loads, would snap these up. It would be like printing there own money ;D

GW sales concept teams have no friggin idea, yeah lets make a boat game instead ::) :-\

Regards epic
