Not counting the two tanks I painted earlier as test minis that's my first months contribution finished!

For those who followed my progress developing this scheme I have tried to use Westsides technique of using a complimentary wash(this one green), I hope this shows!

C&C very much desired, I'm definitely unsure about using the striped helmet to represent a bonded team.

P.S. I also have an update for my main log which I'll hold off until tomorrow that way I won't be spamming the forum with updates to two threads.

Not a late start at all. Looking good, I like the striped helmet.

Not sure about the green wash, my comment would have been that the red is lacking some definition / shadows and highlights. Maybe pick out some more individual details like the rifle roundels to break up the red a bit?

Yes, I think it would be worth a try on the infantry. The Battlesuites look good but the red on the firewarriors looks a tad flat to me – could be the photos though.

LOL I was starting to wonder about all the red/grey combos going around. I'm copying a friend's 40k scheme from years ago honest!

The photos are/were really dark, I ran the through photobucket's editor to take the worst of the effects away. Will endeavour to wait on a little sunshine in future but this being Scotland it's often dificult.

I think it is looking pretty good. If you want more shadow mix another dilute green wash with some Future, that should help it pool in the cracks and leave a 'natural' highlight. Then take the gloss off once it dried with a spray dull coat.

Before I did that though, I'd paint the guns on the Fire Warriors a different shade or color to add more visual interest.

According to color theory, how the human eye interprets color red and green over eachother as black. If you want them to look 'dirty' and 'dusky' black and brown washes are appropritate.

Black and browns are all I used to use, now I use them mainly on 'steel' metalics, dark grey bases (which I am using as my black), etc.

These are looking good. I've always loved the look of crisis suits. I agree with Westside's thought of painting the guns a different color to add more contrast. You can see that you've done the detail work in your pics, but that would help draw attention to the figures.

A belated thanks to they guys above, I prefer to wait for more content before posting here.

That said I will be adding grey to the FW's weapons when I get a minute, to solve the flat armour I've gone for another highlight using one of GW's new red, which is close to the colour I was mixing here but is more vibrant IMO. I've yet to apply it to last months batch, want some feedback on it first.

You'll have to excuse the cryptic naming.

Thought? Are the new colours an improvement? More suggestions/criticisms welcome as the army is still young.

The new red seems to 'pop' a bit more, and more contrast always helps 6mm minis looking good so far!
