What made you go that colour rather than the traditional 'undead' earthly colours?

The blue was a bit of a mistake (my beastmen are blue already), wishing id done them green currently. They were going to be red, but then i end up painting all my epic red, so wanted to avoid that. I did consider just black but wimped out on that. In short, i thought it all through in detail and still made what i now think was the wrong choice ;)

Just a side question; the bases. Any reason you did not keep them in line with the basing of the infantry? It appears that there is room to condense the base of the mammoths (albeit their tusks would be well outside any basing).
Just curious as many games would require the frontages to be consistent.

Huh good point – you could just have got the mammoth feet onto a 12*40, might look a bit precarious though. At the size they are on now they are consistant with warmaster monsters and cav, 40*20. Because i have no rule set to follow i have just been basing them exactly the same way I would have for epic. That said, my cavalry are based long edge on, on a 40*20 epic bike base style, which does not fit warmaster's short edge on. And then my chariots are on 20*30 for absolutely no valid reason :D I'd do them 3 to a 20*40 but the minis are too expensive.

Yeah the cavalry for warmaster is different to other gaming systems.

I guess if u remain consistent, all the basing should be fine.

But what we really want to know is, how did you achieve those effects on the tusks? They look cracked and aged. Have you considered branching into fake antiquities?

Tusks were painted normally and then glazed with watered chaos black which was speed-dried on using a daylight bulb at close range.

Been assembling some MWG dwarfs, scale comparison shots with GW squats (excuse the glare)

Generally a good match. The ironbreakrs don't really scale for exos.

Assembled dwarf army awaiting undercoat:

I hesitate to ask, but where are those dwarves from again?

I had been undecided on ordering some of those skeletons to include in my stands of death guard, but I think I might have to know Ive seen how awesome you have made them. The blue scheme is fantastic, red would have been to common. I love the blue look, gives them a chilling icy look. The mammoth are superb as well. Will there be a bone dragon in the future?

That's what i got them for to start with, used the command figures to add to lord stands, the standard bearer is especially effective. And then i got an army ;D I doubt the dragon or skeletal cav will happen anytime soon, the little hobby time i have at present is going into TOEG12.
