@Blind - Yep, the E40k sprue. They were the Lootas' gun barrel.

You have exposed my cleverness to the world...
It is indeed. I was writing in my 40k fluff voice. If you must know how that sounds, recall how we all say "sorcerer lord" - the rest of you poor deprived souls will have to imagine listening to a game dungeons and dragons spoken through a severe and annoying lisp.

Oops, didn't realize you were purposely trying to be clever. My bad. I should've known better!

Thanks WI. The minervans are a couple of mech platoons and some exterminators short of being done - we'll see about the army shot then. Hopefully, there will be a few army shots in this thread eventually, as it's my catch-all blog for all my IG armies.
Those are Flames of War small bases

What size are they? I had a look on the Battlefront online store but it did nt show the dimensions.

In particular would they fit EA Land Raiders?

I have used the Warmaster bases for my Epic IG and Epic Orks, but I am unsure if I want to use them for my Epic SM- the couple of Rhinos I have based don't look right on Warmaster bases- too long. If I can find a base size that fits both Rhinos and Land Raiders then I am sorted.

Thanks

James

After a quick measurement (just a ruler, no calipers or anything), they are about 30mm x 25mm.
It depends on what version land raiders you are basing. The old mk I's will fit fine. The plastic E40k ones are a stretch - there's a bit of overhang on the sides with the sponsons. I doubt they are big enough for the E:A LR's though.

You micro-oriented folks, always focused on the tiny stuff and ignoring what's right in front of ya. Get out of the lab and traipse around in the field once in a while, man!
It does say an IG gallery up at the top of the page.

Thanks for checking.

Nuts- I will be using the current EA model metal Land Raiders so that rules them out.

You did say these were the "small" FOW base- any idea how big the medium/large FOW bases are?

Sorry for all the questions but helping to narrow down my alternaives for basing my SM.

Cheers

James

No worries, James.
The medium bases are 50mm x ~30mm. Even if you have to find an alternative to the small ones for the LR's, I'd recommend them anyway. LR are pretty rare. Dave put two of the small ones together for one of his SM army's LR's and it looked good.

The smalls are 1x1.25", mediums are double that and larges are double the mediums.

An EA LR will fit on a medium, as will SG SHTs.

Thanks guys- looks like will go for a mixture of FOW small (for Rhinos etc) and FOW medium bases for LR's.

Cheers

More progress to report: A set of seven chimeras, which will be doing double-duty for the steel legion (another mechanized infantry company) and minervans (1 mech platoon +; I'll be able to do 3 when I'm done). So, I painted them up in the dark blue/ochre scheme.

They look different from standard E:A/E40k models because I used helhound hulls with some spare second hand AOT turrets. I had to manufacture a bunch of track sections as two of the hulls came without them. Instamold is great for spare parts 8)
