Hi guys! My obsessive journey in acquiring all I wanted for Epic is finished. The other day I finally won an auction on Ebay that finished off my collection:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....IT&rd=1

I posted that I was looking for these little guys, but not many people have them. I missed out on a GREAT Epicollector auction who was selling 2 each of these little Greater Daemons and I have been banging my head against the wall ever since. The little Great Unclean One in the auction isn't the actual Great Unclean One that matches the rest, but I do already have him. He looks just like the Epic Space Marine version, and is probably my favorite.

I have heard these being released as familiars, but I have seen the add for them in an old White Dwarf and the particular four I am talking about were advertised for Epic. This was in the old AT/SM days. . .

ANYWAY, the reason this is such a big deal is because ever since I saw these on Markonz's site I really wanted them. I imagine if Epic 40k was more successful, we would have seen smaller Greater Daemons released. I say this because the Eldar Avatar and Tyranid Hive Tyrants shrank dramatically, and so it seemed silly to be using the larger Epic Space Marine versions even thought they do look better than these older guys.

On the gaming table they look great. Plus since they really weren't that impressive individually (in Epic 40k you needed several in a detachment to be really successful. Playing with what is actually 3 GIGANTIC Keeper of Secrets and facing off against a tiny Avatar just looked silly to me. I know these Daemons can justifiably be any size they want, but the smaller ones look more like their 40k cousins. I absolutely love them.

Anyway, these were the only guys haunting me for the last few months and now I got them. I could use about three Leman Russ tanks, but I am not stressing over them. I finally have everything I ever wanted and now it is time to pack most of it all up cause I am not playing these games much anymore!!!!!! LOL. :(

I love the new Land Raiders, but there isn't enough going on in EpicA for me to start buying a lot more minis that are just going to sit in my boxes like the ones I have now. I think all this represents a period of my life that I have kind of left for good. It is fun to look through it once and awhile and remember the good times, but I'll never play like I used to.

That being said, I am pretty much done buying anything for GW games. I still purchase Man O' War stuff from time to time when the price is too good not to pass up, but with Warhammer Quest, Necromunda, and especially 40k, I can say I have all that I really want. I would buy more for Warhammer, but my friends just look at it and say cool, but no one wants to really play it. No one is playing anything anymore. Everybody is playing online games now, which I have to admit, can be a lot more exciting. . .

Anyway, chapter finally closed. God that was a lot of money.

Yes, 3 of those are the old Familiars, that we use ... the SM2 versions were too big (40K size) and looked goofy on the board ! ? Looked like Godzilla (or Gorzirra ! ... as my lovely Korean Girlfriend use to say !) :;): ?Nurgle is a 40K Nurgling, but I like it ... may have to try to get that one ! ?You can never have too many Greater Daemons (even though I rarely fielded them !) floating around ! ?EpiCollector has pics of all of them. ? And with my 9 Epic Armies and E:A and F/W continuing to release new stuff ! ?I'll complete my Epic collection ... when I'm DOA  ! ? :o ?

Oh, so YOU were the one who outbid me!

Congratulations.

They were, in fact, WHFB/40K familiars.  I have a set that I opened from the blister (minus the bloodthirster that I traded away).  I don't doubt they were released later, though.  Everyone I knew at the time and most since prefer them to the SM/TL GDs.

Lol, an Epic collection is NEVER complete. You will find some more models you like/want, or you will want a new army. Just wait till the Epic Necrons and Tau come out...

Cheers

Chris

That was you Neal? LOL Sorry. Always watch for snipers in the last seconds. With my cable at work, I can submit my bid with three seconds left.

I would give you a mini Keeper of Secrets and a mini Lord of Change for one more mini Bloodthirster if you ever come across one. . . I want two of each kind. . .

And Chris, you are probably right. Although I feel nothing for the Tau and think the Necons are boring, I would collect both for Epic. I was just saying I have enough for the armies that are out now. FW's prices for the Tau make me a little woozy thinking about them. . . It would cost me over $100 just to field a tiny 500 point (not even) army for Epic 40k. Not worth it.

Hi!

Chris is right, an epic collection is never done...it only gets bigger.

I think that should be "bigger and more unpainted"

Cheers

I'm safe - 130 more 28mm scale bits of lead arrived in the post this morning. All good, but it still keeps running through my head that thats 115 unique sets of Savage Orc warpaint I've got to think up in the coming years..........  :-:

Congrats on the find Gandalf, its VERY satisfying to finally locate and acquire that missing *bit* that you want, especially after years of searching!

However, I could never admit that a collection is complete.  There is no such thing for me anyway.  There will always be that extra purchase, that new release, or whatever.

More importantly, I'll go into battle with my new detachment of , have them do well, only to have meponder...'I wonder what I could do with 2...or 3 detachments of those guys'...more purchase then follow!  :D

Hi!

I suspect L4, there are a lot of "highlanders" on this board.  :;):
