I'm sure frogbear could say the same for WE or EC but really testing over more than one group is needed as different styles and philosophies will highlight different issues.

Oh, I'm glad to hear that! As I said, I actually prefer this version of Chaos Marines in EPIC, simply because it suits the 'feel' of my army and what I'd like to use better.

Then none of the newer armies will ever be "ready" as practically no one actually posts batreps or feedback to the majority of the lists.

I've played vs the World Eaters and they're "close," if not, "ready" to run with. After all the theory hammering that goes on in discussion, 30+ playtests for any list is likely to be as much as you'll ever get on a particular list. If a list is "close" then release it as ready and let the public then gnash their teeth at a later stage. It's most likely where you'll get most of your feedback. I doubt Epic has the people numbers to thrash out a list to that degree unless you make it all "closed-testing only."

Honestly from my experience I see no real issues with red corsairs and emperor's children. I would rather they remain at their current state however to allow a full years worth or two of tournament availability in a completed netea army book before them moving to approved however.

The world eaters are competitive to an extent but only because people are not as used to the drop and cc nature of them. With any opponent that knows the rules and has faced them, they are not really that competitive or as fun to play. They also do not allow the full complement of troops and feel that I think they should and another update which is ready to go (waiting on a confirmation of an army book with a date) may fix this. Even then, I would want them there for one or 2 years in their current state of acceptance before being considered for fully approved.

As I mentioned earlier, I've also played well over 30 games (ranging from 1000pts to 4000pts) using the Red Corsair list and we have found no imbalances in the list.

It has been used in a 13 week campaign and a 1 day/3 games @ 3000pts tournament here in Perth and I'd have no problems allowing it any future events.
