Agreed, especially with the early warning - although I suspect everyone around is getting stuff ready for the next one! Thanks guys.

Quote (Jimbo @ 05 2004 Jan.,01:16) | I guess I better start digging out an exclusive prize to donate for next years contest as well. | That would be greatly appreciated Jimbo! It makes a big difference to actually WIN something other than Kudos!
In fact, trying to arrange the prize categories and have sufficient prizes available for each was a significant problem.
Any and all offers of minis, blisters or anything relevant to Epic Gaming will be greatly appreciated for this years Comp - Thanks!

Well, it seems there is a consensus on things that can be improved.
I would like to say thanks again. Sometimes in the pile of constructive criticism, the "criticism" outpaces the "constuctive" part. The contest was a big success and fun to do; definitely a great first run.

Glad you all had fun!

Hi guys,
first of all I have to say kudos for running the comp- it was both fun and interesting to see epic minis again after such a scarcity on the net.
I'd like to suggest that perhaps you could look at receiving pics via email and only posting them at the start of the voting period.
I know this means that there's no 'build up' of pics to view as the voting period draws closer, but I honestly feel that entries will lose their 'wow' factor if entered early. As an example, it happens in tournaments when you consider a best army category. Someone might paint a stunning army and win, however next year at the same event, even though it's still the best army there, other newer entries get more attention (despite a lesser quality of work) because they are fresh.

Thanks for your comments. While I agree that posting all of the pictures together would increase impact, one of the reasons (for me) for this competition is to increase awareness of these boards. Also, by not having a single day of 'show and tell' it keeps people coming back to check.
It also adds more maintanance work for the mods. Also, with this type of competition, the voting happens after the close of the comp, so non of the entries are 'new' when it comes to vote, and all should be on an even level.
I hope that you dont think that I am disregarding your view, and if others agree with you then I am happy to do it that, I am just explaining why it was not done that way last year.
Thanks.

Wheres my prize from last years comp? | Which reminds me - I finally got my prize from Fanatic last week! OK so they were long past the promised "pre release" status, but a pack of Rhinos, Raiders, Preds, Whilwinds AND a box of infantry more than made up for the long delay!
Hopefully I'll find some time in the next few weeks to paint some of them up - I'm thinking of trying to use them for something useful by painting each (maybe now in small groups rather than individual pieces as when I planned this I thought I was only getting 10 vehicles!)in a different colour scheme & doing a range of painting guides.
Would that be of use / interest if I do knuckle down to it after the easter break?

Glad to see that things are getting sorted out. I think that the delivery of the prizes is something that will need attention next comp. Tuff, good to hear that Fanatic came through with that. I would be interested in the painting guides, for sure.
