Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could please help me with advice on what models/proxies are being used for the following units in the knightworld Army list and where I can get them from:

Senechal

Baron

Crusaders

Castellans

Squires

Aspirants

Skitarii Demi-Century

Trebuchets

Ballistas

Thank you for any help.

Bob

I'm just starting out on my own Knightworlds project; I found some budget knight-size walkers in the em4 robots (got mine from insurgencygaming.com); There are a few other users here that have doen the same.

The em4 robots doesn't look like anything the Imperium (or the Mechanicum) would have designed, so I'm styling the whole army as "Advanced Xenos"... Creatures with over-large eyes and multi-hued hair, I imagine.

Here's a picture from the army planning:

It shows size comparisons, and also my take on the Armiger Sentinels (Chaos Dreadnoughts, from the Epic Stompers set) and Ballista batteries (spare missile pods from the em4 robots). The DC1 and DC2 models are the em4 robots.

Color sample, of what will count-as a Knight Lancer:

It is entirely unconverted. It has what looks like a medium-range cannon, a fist for CC, and a short-range wrist weapon, which matches the Lancers loadout well enough.

Mine are Gundam 1/400 scale models which are like Speaker's models perhaps too techy for the Imperium but screw those backward Cads. Also, like Speaker, I'm also using old metal Battletech models (I can see a Battlemaster and a Warhammer in your picture).

Has anyone thought of using the Dark Realm Miniatures?

If starting from scratch, I still like the Mantagen/Matragen in the Andraydan lines from Dark Realms Miniatures. They don't scale up perfectly to the 'official' models (they're a little smaller), but if you're not mixing the two lines, definitely fit the part IMO. I would have done it that way, if I didn't have a bucketload of official ones purchased at stupid rates.

The EM4 robots are good, but I think they're a little the other side in size (that's why I'll be using them for Wardens), but heavy BattleTech miniatures are also a good idea for the DC2's, lights for the DC1's. Heavy Gear is also a good source for proxies if you like the style (some don't, I do).

But as long as you use relative consistency, pretty much anything robotic works.

Most of the Knights do have old models from back in the day, so eBay is one possibility to pick up the old Knight models (but it's an expensive option!). A Seneschal is just a knights character - there used to be Knights Errant, Lancer and Palladin models with slightly different detail and a back banner.

Here's what a Baron model looked like:

Here's the catalogue page for Crusaders

Have a look at this photo of someone on the forum's Knight World army, it's really inspirationally well done! It includes Knight Castellans on the bottom right and the middle Knight Errant is a Senenchal character one with the back banner.

A Forge World Aerounautica Imperialis AA Gun would be perfect for a Balista.
Any appropriate immobile artillery could work for a Howitzer, I like Otterman's medium ranged immobile ones and you could ask him about them.
Any infantry could be used for Skitiarii - you could do them red and make them look Adeptus Mechanicussy. Or just use anything and have them be the standing army of the particular Knight world.
Squires are an invented Sentinel variety with an additional close combar weapon. Take a look at the Catachan sentinel for inspiration perhaps, but just add a close combat weapon of some sort (or just use sentinels as is and claim the extra CC to be down to better training/skills). Alternatively plastic robots could be a good option as in the army linked to above. I have 15 or so that I don't want if you want to trade for some.
