Your PC is up to the USB 1.0 standard but not the latest 2.0 standard. The message is annoying but will not affect performance.
//Legal disclaimer: Advice was given whilst the tech support desk was both inebriated, elated and annoyed at the same time. Any damage this advice may cause is the fault of a combination of great mates and crappy ex-mates and not the tech support desk . But it is correct to the best of my knowledge.//

The motherboard is the ASUS p4s8x (only 1? years old) BIOS version is 1.004 as i recall but I can't remember exactly what the bios is called- I think it's pretty standard for Asus mb's.
In the Bios settings the USB thingy is set to "2.0 with backwards compatability" -I'd tend to agree with you Netepic that it appears not to be set to 2.0 standard but I just don't see where else to change the settings. I think i got the "slow hub" message with my scanner once but I've never heard from it since and it works fine. However I cannot acces the USB keyring from "My computer" -the computer simply freezes... reallly odd, when considering that it works fine on every other computer I've tried to attatch it to...
The MB has 6 usb ports -4 at the back and 2 in a front bay. Occupied ports by: Mouse, Keyboard, Scanner and until recently a joystick.
I downloaded a file called "usb2_sis2kxp101d" from ASUS' website which i believe updated the USB root hub. When i look in the Control panel/system/preferences/hardware and loook under USB controllers i get an awfull lot of those.
3x sis7001 PCI to USB open host controller 1x sis 7002 USB 2.0 enhanced host controller 1x USB 2.0 root hub 3x USB root hub 1x USB assembled (word? again I'm trying to translate form a different language it's probablly some sort of a pseudonym) device.
The PCI to USB thing really confuses me as I do not have a PCI card with extra USB ports on my comp???
Cheers!
