Just to show (to myself?) I'm still alive I just ordered two Exodus Wars MkI Urban Pacification Squadrons to kick off a project I've been meaning to start for a long time. One Squadron will be converted to Hearthlord superheavy tanks and the other to Hellfury superheavy APC, both from Net Epic Squat list in case someone is wondering.

After divorce and getting laid off I just hope to get myself going again with a small & fun hobby project. Somehow I've not been on a sunny mood lately.

Da plan:
1) saw the treads off, fill the gap and reposition the treads to the hull sides to make a wider and more massive vehicle.
2) make fenders from plasticard.
3a) For the tank, make the turret more angular with putty and customise the cannon.
3b) For the APC, experiment with smaller turrets to make the autocannon turret required.
4) Possibly customise the small turret weapons so they look like heavy bolters.
5) Paint 'em.

Pics will follow but updates will probably be few and far between.

Same thing happened to me in '09. Divorced in May, laid off end of December.

Good to hear to see you're still alive and kicking. :D You know I'm looking forward to this project.

Strangely enough, I was also Divorced and Laid off over the last year. It was the thing that inspired me to get back into Epic. I wish you well and it is good to see you are surviving as well!

I can;t wait to see your progress as squats are down the line in my army lists!

Thanks for interest, everybody. The first update is less than glamorous as I just popped in to tell the tanks have been shipped. I expect they'll be here within a week.

@Netepic: so do I. I'm still contemplating whether to visit salute this year. If I get a new job I probably will. If not, I'll have to check my financial state. :\

I know, the first commandment of TacComms:"Thou shalt post pics". At present, however, it's kind of hard. As of yet I have not received the minis and lacking a futuroscope I can't take pics of minis that will arrive next week. ;D

EDIT: I ordered some stuff from Dark Realm as well. These will be used to make a test run of Ironhammers and Ironshields.

Ok, the minis arrived today. Now I have enough material for a test run: 3 each of Ironhammers, Ironshields, Hearthlords and Hellfuries. Hopefully I get to start tomorrow. The material looks promising. Enforcer Mk I are suitably massive and will be even more so when I make them wider. The firemouth chassis is perfect for my idea of how the Ironhammers should look like; just a little bit of green stuff and a new turret. The only problem is getting the new turret; it seems none of my countrymen have done any casting as I've got no replies. :(

Also note a battle report of their trial by fire is also required :)

Ok, just a quick update without pics (patience, grasshopper, pics will be forthcoming when I have a prototype ready). At the moment I just can't decide what the Ironhamer's side sponsons should look like. On one hand the unreleased Imperial dropship has very nice looking small turrets of just the right size. On the other hand I'd kind of like to emphasize the more high-tech nature of the Squats by making the side sponsons automated as well as looking like the ones in Land Raider as a nod to the origins of the Squats. Opinions?

@zap123: if I manage to get my army ready AND can squeeze in a trip to the UK to challenge netepic there will be a battle report.
