I hope you and your family/friends are okay Marconz!

I gather this new earthquake was nastier than the last one with 65 dead :(

Whoah! Hey Mark, glad you read you are well and in good spirits. Careful with those aftershocks - they can sometimes be larger than the original and come days after the fact. Growing up in California I'm familiar with the feeling of the ground moving beneath you and you never get used to it.

Glad to see the Epic pieces survived. :)

Mosc, the early replies by Marco are from the previous earthquake, not this one. Still waiting for a reply.

Think I confused you sorry Mosc - most of this thread is 5 months old and reffering to the previous earthquake, but there's recently been another worse earthquake with fatalities this time and I posted in the old thread rather than starting a new one, so we don't know Mark is ok or not as yet (fingers crossed!).

I suppose I should have looked at the dates. Well, best wishes to everyone there.

Weird. Just today management approached me about adding New Zealand support to 'my' software.

Hi guys, thanks for concern, yes we have had a second big shock which was much worse. Time, location, and sharp lateral rather than horizontal movement all an unfortunate combination.
Am ok, just slight bruises as office destroyed itself around me and bookcase etc fell on me. Then just as got our hospital patients/staff evacuated another big aftershock hit knocking people to ground again, water/sand erupting out of ground at our feet, roads bursting open. All quite scary.

We lucky though. Sadly this time some buildings full of people have pancaked in central city including 5 story TV station. :( Many places with repair scaffolding still on them are now destroyed. Gothic Cathedral in central square basically demolished as is a lot of the old gothic architecture.

Things a real mess, aftershocks continuing, but have power and water back on in this half of city now. Rescue work continuing with extra backup from Aussie, Singapore, Japan etc arriving, thanks. Cheers, Mark.

Glad to see you're alive. All you folks in NZ are in our prayers. Earthquakes are nothing to sneeze at.

I thought of you yesterday Mark as I was watching the news. I'm so thankful that you're ok mate.

75 dead with 300 still missing. A terrible tragedy.
