Hi!

If the rulebook is perceived as expensive and the book is still free to download, I'm afraid many will just bypass buying the book.

While I beleive GW has shown extraordinary good faith in offering the download, business-wise it may not be a good move.

We'll see....

It's worked well for Bloodbowl.  Thier rulebook is about $25 US for about half of what will be in the EA rules, and is fully downloadable.  Also, according to Jervis,  GW France has been able to show a strong correlation between free downloads and miniature purchases (though I can't remember which rules they had online - BFG maybe?).

To me, that sounds like a 2 out of 2 record, so I'd probably give it a shot if I were Jervis, too.

Hi all, well I just advance-ordered it.
I have a number of reasons:
1 - I like to collect Epic rulebooks - dumb, perhaps, but someday they'll be of great value (ever the optimist), more than a bundle of draft-printed pdfs.
2 - I'm guessing there will be more to the book than the pdfs - an advert I guess :p - but I'd never know otherwise.
3 - I'm a sucker.

Not sure whats the deal with the infantry. Does that mean they arent for order til mid -jan or that you can order them over the phone or that they just havent got the time to stick it on the web site yet?

From what I've heard, there are a few sections in the rulebook that are not in the downloadable PDFs. And thats not just the credits page where I'll see my name in an epic publication for the first time  (YAY! :D   :D   :D )

In seperate communications, I've heard they've got further notes on campaigns and experience progressions for scenario play - I'm adding 2+2 to make 4 and assuming these will therefore be in the printed book.

Some of the prices are damned scary though. Looks like I'd better start revving the auto-brushes if I want to get me all those nice new marine vehicles

Hi!

Vanvlak, it isn't dumb to collect rulebooks. I do it all the time and I'd bet many here do the same.

Many times I just like buying the book to get new ideas, even though I no intention of getting into then game.

Hi!

Was looking closer at the prices today, man thats expensive. A little over 35 dollars for 10 leman russ tanks that used to be about 8.50 for three. You could buy 4 of those blister AND have more models for less than this.

The infantry boxes are horrid too 32 or so stands for about under 22 dollars at current exchange rates. Mighty expensive.

This makes FW look like bargain basement...... ???

You can still find better deals than that on Ebay, albeit used.  Sometimes alot better.

Hi!

I think all gamers get bit by the collection bug, some worse some less so, but collecting is something we do.  :)

I'll definitely buy the Rule book and any other rule supplements. And all the new models also - but I'm hoping they may sell them individually, in the future.  I don't need the numbers they sell the models in.  Or as I said before, sell the extras here ...    :;):
