Well, he sold it for 370 bucks, paypal fee is 37 bucks and possibly some more if the initial price wasnt. 0.99, then you also pay 3-4 % on paypal fee and there you go, all comes together.

Ah, I wasn't watching the auction; thought it went for $400. $62 of $370 is not as bad (16.2% vs. 23%), but still borderline criminal.

I'm guessing postage took a big chunk, then listing fee, final fee and paypal fees on everything (including the postage). It all adds up. As a rule of thumb, you'll pay ~13-15% all in, which is ~$50 plus the postage.
ghost, why did they hold your funds?

They took just over $50. And I still need to pay $40 for shipping.
They gave no reason for holding the funds. I imagine to collect more interest. Up to 21 days they can hold it for. I have sold thousand dollar paintball guns without issue before. So I have no idea.

that blows. I sold $1000s of stuff through eBay, most of it went ok, but it's the nasty ones that leave the sour taste in your mouth. Get on to paypal and register a complaint - no reason why they should hold your money.
