I'm painting up an Epic 40k AM titan legion, the Warp Runners. The paint scheme for the warp runner titans is blue and gold. I've read somewhere that the adeptus mechanicus uses the color crimson/red (as evidenced by the tech marine color schemes).

Would the skitari/hypaspists accompanying the warp runner titans wear the same color as the titans (blue) or is the red skitari scheme the way to go? This would include the skitari support vehicles as well (chimera, leman russes etc).

I would prefer to paint the skitari blue (I have too many "red" armies), but I don't want to create a jarring fluff foul. Obviously it's my choice and you can always make up a story to justify any change, but the ocd part of me doesnt want to bend the fluff too much.

I think the background is unclear enough that blue/gold skitarii would be fine.

You could have characters or elites in red with blue trim - to denote they have undergone a pilgrimage to mars, and are thus closer to the Omnissiah.

You don't get closer to the Omnissiah by going to Mars, you get closer to the Omnissiah through dangerous and invasive mechanical augmentation! Unless you're talking about The Dragon, you DO get closer to him by traveling to Mars.

I like the "not red" idea. Perhaps some red trim, but make it subtle.

Theres a really old White Dwarf which has info on the War Griffons TL. In that it states that the support troops have the same uniform colour as the TL !

I can't remember off the top of my head but I'm sure it goes on to say that support troops have red helmets, assult green and tactcal yellow.It showed a picture of a landraider and a rhino in War Griffon colours.

I can't remmember which issue but its around the WD115-125 mark.

If you wanted I could dig about and clarify that if you wish ?

NOT Red, leave that for the forge world troops (the ones without a titan legion).

In Titanicus, Skitarii wear the livery of their legions as well.

I don't, but Dave posted pics from our last couple of tourneys, NEAT III and NEAT III.V, in which my Skitarii saw action.
