Space Marines have no WE sized units except Thunderhawks.

Space Marines fight Xenomorphs and say things like "Game Over Man! Game Over!"

They are also known to fight with Harsh language ;)

My vision of Space Marines may be a bit old school, but when I think Marines, I think Battle Companies, Land Raiders, Predators, dreadnoughts and Landspeeders. Sergeants and comand units (Apocs, Chaps, Techmarines) sprinkled through the force. Rarer units are Thawks, Drop pods, Vinnies, Razorbacks and Terminators. Tactical and assault are for anti infantry with Devestators, predators and vindicators providing anti-tank support. Terminators are specifically brought in to fight tough, big or highly resilient enemies, but they are rare among the force and teleportation is even more rare . Land raiders are the primary vehicle support with the heavy bolters mowing down infantry and the las cannons providing front line AT support. I also feel that Air superiority is not a strength of the SMs. I also see a force that is typically outnumbered 2-1 (3-1 vs orks and nids) but typically is able to maintain a kill ratio of 4-1 or 5-1.

Ironically air superiority should be key - otherwise they could never be an independent force. Thats a bit of 40k sillyness for them not to have fighters.

Apparently, a Space Marine Hydra was mentioned in one of the Apocalypse books.

I'm going to try to dig up the reference. It's supposedly in the Tempest + Thunderhawk formation.

The LS Tempest was originally created by FW to fill the slot of a Marine "light fighter".

Hey, I'm quoting something I was told. I haven't been able to confirm it.

EDIT:

The Tempest's a pretty slow light fighter. Slower than normal Land Speeders, actually, IIRC.

Somewhat. OTOH, why release something that fills a gap when there are random guns to attach to Land Raiders?

With a spacecraft to erase enemy airports from existence i see no problem here.

@Speed:
Land Speeder: 350kph
Land Speeder Tempest: 300kph

Operational Ceiling is 100m

Really? It would seem many aircraft today are designed to operate away from airports.
