With a view to try and get some consistancy back into my play, I'm playing the same guard army as I took to FSA. (Having some fun putting together a BotC list as well - probably won't work though)

My Open War list is something out of the ordinary for SM's, I'm relying on the surprise factor to compensate for my lack of skill.

Hope everyone's painting has gone well. Don't forget to put your name and ticket number on your army list.

See you all tomorrow morning for fun and games. And for once I won't be able to blame my dice for losing... I'll be able to blame The Dice of Davetm ;D

If Steve picks me up early enough I'll sing to them on the way down to give them that bit extra ;) .

Thanks to all the guys who attended Open War, hopefully you all had a good time. Congratulations to Tim Hunt on winning with his Imperial Guard. Also thanks to Steve for acting as the spare player, sadly there isn't much else we can do when people don't bother to turn up.

Well done Tim - watching the final top table game v Dave was certainly a nail-biter

Hopefully the new guys - Radek+Mike, enjoyed themselves and we'll see you again

Who won best painted?

Sorry for not bothering to turn up, but my gig the day before, which was supposed to only be one hour, turned into a three and a half hour set when the landlord asked us to play on.

I could have tried turning up, but having only had about four hours' sleep I'd probably now be a twisted pile of metal and flesh somewhere on the hard shoulder of the M1.

Heh, at least you live in Nottingham so it's safe for you to turn up looking like a zombie... had I tried the 2.5 hour drive I'd be a zombie right now.

Thanks for stepping out to balance numbers, I shall try and find a way to compensate you for that loss. :)

Another event has been completed. 18 players joined battle yesterday at
Warhammer World. As the day reached it's climax a titanic clash developed
on table one in game 3. Dave "The Dice" Thomas was matched up against a
resurgent Tim Hunt. Once the smoke had settled Tim Hunt emerged victorious
taken his first tournament podium since FSA 2008! Mark Preston continued
his solid progress with second, and Dave Thomas had to settle for third.
The best painted vote was very tight but Chris Webb's space marine took the
honours over Chris Steels Vanaheim air cavalry. Full results can be seen here.
I also hope all the new
players to the UK tournament scene enjoyed themselves and hope to see you
at another event soon. Thanks to 1st Company Veterans or running another
fun event.
The impact of Open war on the Championship has been to give us a new
leader, Matt Arnold. Matt is making good use of his extensive epic
collection by playing 3 different races at the first 3 tournaments, while
maintaining a solid top 8 finish each event. It's close thought with 5
players within 7 points with a third of the season now complete. So 3
events, 3 different winners. Has Dave T finally lost his dominance? Is Tim
Hunt back to winning ways? Only time will tell.
The next event for Epic is Battle of the Chumps. This two day event run by
Flame on at WHW is now sold out.
After that comes my favourite event of the year Britcon. 3 days, 4000
points and all on campus at Manchester university. Details of how to enter
can be found on the Epic-UK calendar
