I like the walking boxes. They remind me of cheap scifi stuff from the 70s. It makes me smile.

Lord Inquisitor - I wanted to avoid a man and his vehicle idea as I already have one (read on) although the borg reference would fit in nicely.

mageboltrat - As I am going to have a huge tower as my tomb complex it might look a little too similar.

nealhunt - I am glad it makes you smile rather than flip your disk in disgust. I like crap old sci fi.

Grimgork - Thanks!

Okay I have done a little work but have been busy with the same things that everyone else always is (life, work, blah, blah). I do have my first game with the necrons tomorrow and I needed to get a few things done for it. In just three hours while listening to two podcasts I built, undercoated and painted six flayed ones and an objective. I was pretty impressed as I am so slow and distractable.

The flayed ones will be switched out as soon as I can get some wargames factory androids. They are just basic Ork models with some greenstuff flesh ponchos added on. They look a tad silly up close but froma distance they are easily recognisable as flayed ones... I guess thats what really matters.

Okay next is my first objective. I wanted a heroic objective that would really make a battle seem more climactic and like a movie. It is THE PRESIDENT and he will be in peril. His car breaking down in the middle of nowhere while there are invading robots on the loose. I really like a bit of silly background and the story that runs through a battle and I think it will be funny to try and capture the president.

Here is a poster shot of the terror that insues when the cubes try to kidknap the president.

I still need to paint three damn monoliths by tomorrow night, wish me luck! Also any last minute battlefield tips would be great, this is only my 4th game of epic and my first against marines! (I know he is thuderhawk heavy and I only have one pylon...)

I would probably have went victoriana with my objectives.. but I did love League of Extraordinary Gentlemen II where they did War of the Worlds.

Thanks alot guys! I am already really fond of this army, I am loving the cubes.

I had my first game today and managed to get a couple of battlefield shots of it in action. It was really cool to see down on the table, I am still undecided on the monoliths being to big or not. I was really impressed with the flayed ones, on the table they looked really cool (if I may say so myself)

Here is a portion of my army assaulting some devestators.

It went pretty well.

The final turn had a stand off between the cubes and some termies... When an unexpected teleport attack mangled the terminators the presidents fate was sealed!

Wow 245 days since my last update or eight months exactly! Thats what a classic case of Blood Bowl fever does to you. I scratched the itch and now im crawling back. Hello Again!

I am hoping this will cause uproar but I am concidering swapping over to regular Necrons instead of the Cubes. The more I see the beautiffuly painted Monoliths and stuff the more I want to have a conventional looking army. I am also starting to feel a little constrained by the cube vibe... At the end of the day most of my conversions are just different sized cubes.

Anyway mid-project crisis over...

My wonderful ladyfriend bought me some 2.5mm plastic rod for christmas, and you all know what that means!

SCARAB SWARMS

These guys are just trials but they came out nicely enough. I am going to make a bunch more because I like tiny cubes... they are so cute.

I also finally got my other objective finished Hoo-Raaah. Long undecided what to do I originally had a monolith that had collapsed... I was never happy with it and hated the idea that my troops were already dead on the battlefield. Recovering a crashed plan or exploded tank always seem like a sign of weakness for the army to me. I know its silly but I could neer get over that fact.

So I have made a natural deposite of Energon Cubes or... Cubetonium or some other silly sounding name.

Image

Its ment to be some kind of resource that the Cube dudes like... and invade places because their own lands are now out of cubes energy block things. I might still make a childrens playground for an objective.

I have finally ditched my awe inspiring commander cube (Warbbq (Warbarque)) after a dozen battles he has proven time and time again that the Warbark is a waste of time and adds nothing to the force. I love the model so I will keep it around but he isnt allowed to command. Presenting some much needed barrage weapons to take his place. The Deciever...

Image

This was an absolute bits box job putting him together. I really wanted to use a deciever and didnt have any awesome cube ideas so just used a spare obelisk and stuck it on an old ghoul whol had his arms lengthened to monsterous proportions with some genestealer hands (old and new!). He was going to be holding a lady in a king kong climbing tall buildings style. It didnt work out so I had him performing Shakespeare to an energy cube, I tried having him perform a cube based 'hadoken' but it looked all wrong. As soon as I an think of something better or convert to regular necrons im gonna get rid of him.

Finally here is a scale shot of all the new silliness.

Image

Stay tuned for titans! I have the frames built and want to try and have one ready for the weekend... will it happen? Nobody knows!
