Another possibility for an eldar general to get rid of terminators is a cobra SHT or better, two.

More on topic, as Spectrar Ghost said, engaging them is always a good idea, if you can keep FF distance.

If you do not want to engange for whatever reasons, swooping hawks or other fast formations can be very helpful in providing a crossfire bonus that helps shooting the crap out of termis >:D

One last option: Eldar are fast. Termis with Oblits are slow. One sometimes can just ignore them.

Chaos Terminators are engagement specialists, and fairly mean ones at that. It's at least worth considering trying to get rid of them by shooting rather than taking them on at what they do best. As Grimgork says, crossfires and/or a Cobra or two will help diminish their armour to make them vulnerable. Disrupt weapons can be handy, too; the Terminators aren't fearless, so once broken they won't last long and you'll only be left with a small number of Obliterators to worry about.

I'm afraid Crossfire won't do anything other than lay an extra BM on Terminator formations as they have the Thick Rear Armour special ability.

I usually field several formations of Rangers for several reasons:-
- They are very good for screening the more vulnerable Eldar formations, especially if placed in cover
- They are scouts and can garrison forward, so can be placed on OW and deny terrain or approaches to targets
- With sniper on sustain, they can be very dangerous to termies, whose 4+RA becomes 5+RA - and you can pick off leaders
- at 100 minimum per formation, what's not to like?

However, you will find that opponents start to pick off these small formations both to remove these threats and screens, and to reduce your activations, so their placement is critical.

Damn; you're absolutely right. I'd forgotten about that.

Yeah RA and rear thick armor is a tuffy. Alex the link you sent me about the mw ability for exarch, autarch didn't really seem very difinitive one way or the other ? certainly banshees would benefit aswell as shining spears . It seems ashame to not have banshees being used at all perhaps this unit needs a bump the +2 cc is great but not effective against RA thick rear armor units. the scouts look good to me aswell thanks ginger I will definitley try them . Thanks again guy the eldar tactics do not come naturally to a newbie this all helps me quite a bit

Just to be clear.

Autarchs *DO* get MW on their extra close combat attack.

Exarchs *DO NOT* get MW on their extra close combat attack.

Sometimes the extra blast marker from a crossfire casualty can be vital and shouldnt be discounted.

As has been said Rangers are great against terminators (especially chaos ones) a couple of formations on overwatch can screen vital parts of your army and break a chaos terminator formation before it gets to do anything even if you lose the initiative.

Otherwise the disrupt barrage of Void Spinners are an answer to almost any problem you may encounter.

It's also worth noting that the Firedragon exarch getting MW for his extra attack is one of those rules that is not set in stone. Following the RAW he DOES in fact get the MW for his EA because it is in the unit's notes not the weapon notes - much the same as warp spiders exarchs get FS for the same reason.

In the UK this position is fully endorsed by the Epic UK rules.

It could be considered ambiguous.

However, their stats include:
Quote:
(15cm)/Small Arms/Macro-weapon

and
Quote:
Notes: The Fusion Guns do not give the Fire Dragons an extra attack; instead they add the Macro-weapon ability to the unit's Firefight value.

I believe that "...to the unit's Firefight value" indicates that the unit gets that ability, as with a weapon (which it is), not the character, as with a unit special ability (which it is not, the rules for the weapon are clarified in the unit notes).

There are RAW and fluff based interpretations possible, however I would say the RAI most closely match the RAW, not the fluff, in this case.
