Lovely work!

The cube with the ensnared victim just screams retro sci-fi & I can see them terrorizing the forces of happiness with their laser-beam eyes. ;D

Okay been away for a little while.

Mageboltrat - The Warbarque is definatly silly, I really like it though he makes a great Supreme Commander. Also I am thoroughly impressed by the effort that went into your space invaders Abattoir its a very cool design. I think I would run out of cubes before I could make it though, dont worry I have something equally silly planned for my war engines. Also I am a fan of Tron... Maybe my destroyers should have been light bikes.

Ulric - They are from another world.

Black Legion - Thats video is really cool. I am a total animation geek and was blown away. Thats how I now imagine my necrons guns working, shooting stuff then it turning into lots of tiny cubes.

Cuban Commissar - We will see if these boxes kick anything... I have a feeling it will be more like a scene from a 70's cop show where a car drives through a pile of cardboard boxes... Just over and over again.

Ghudra - If these cubes were in a B-Movie sci fi film "terrorizing the forces of happiness with their laser-beam eyes" would definatly be the tag line on the poster.

Netepic - I am glad the pulp sci fi comes through.

Okay guys

A really boring update for you. Some more monoliths...wooo.... sigh.

And here is an army shot. It was taken indoors with a high powered light source so it is really desaturated. Also I need another highlight on the two new monoliths eyes.

Just a few more Liths to go and some objectives and I will be almost ready to play. Oh and when my tomb spiders arrive...

It's looking fabulous. It reminds me a bit of this army for 40k it something a bit silly and different which is nice.

The one thing I'm not 100% on though is the green edging on the bases it's stands out a bit much an draws the eye away from the model, maybe a dark brown would look better. Also I would paint the edging with Enamel when basing on metal discs. I've found a lot of the edging on my IG army got chipped after a while, so I've re-edged with black enamel and it stands up much better in transit.

That eyeball army is incredible!

As for the bases I have based my models the same way for about ten years now and it is really force of habit. As we mostly play on tables that have one of the static grass mats on the goblin green sides of the bases match that pretty well and give a pleasent slightly more seamless look. Admittedly it suffered with this army a little due to the really restricted colour pallet (There is alot of green on these models). I might do a trial with a dark brown on but it will have to look mind blowingly good to budge me from my ways.

I think its about time for me to migrate over to the tactics threads to find out what I am supposed to be doing with this Necron army.

I had written off the idea of using wraiths in the army as they seemed impossible to convert. I had been thinking about how to make conventional ones but it appears that the cubes held the answers (as always!).

And no they are not just some spare arms from the Warbarque... Could be though.

Check out the wraiths

Oh by the way im not going to try and deny that these are silly...

Ha... This is ridiculous :P
Looking good though. I love players who don't take their game seriously :)

Spectrar Ghost - Cubes are not an obession.... Thats madness... Cubes are a way of life!

Mageboltrat - I am suprised you liked these guys, they were a bit of a throw away conversion idea as I want to try out a giant phalanx loaded with upgrades and needed something to represent the wraiths. As for comparisons see below, they are mounted on pennies if hat helps.

freebooter - Thanks I guess? It feels like you are damning with faint praise.

This was a quick indoor shot and the colours have come out a little funny. A little redder for some reason?

They really work.. I think it's the curve on the tail.. and they are much smaller than I thought they would be.. I thought they were on a 2p so were almost as tall as the obilisk.

The only issue with the wraiths is that they're technically infantry so should have multiple models on the base. Can't see anyone complaining though; my destroyers are one per base and noone has complained.
