Hard list. Why the Storm Serpent in with the Scorpians? And why did you add the Necarch to the Bringers formation instead of the Caretakers. Just out of curiosity.

The mixed EoV is because I can flank the Storm Serpent with the Scorpions to keep it active longer, and they will all be useful in an Antitank role. The Bringers and Aspects will be the main offensive punch, and the Nechrarch is better there. The Caretakers are there to capture objectives, and hold them; I will probably put TNH objectives in cover to assist this. The Soul Gatherers are a Scout Screen, and will be able to cover a full 8' board. Too few formations, but I always have that issue.

Sorry but I'm a lazy bugger, no full bat rep. You will, however, see Angron's thoughts in the Tyranid section when he posts them up. Played against 'Nids 9.2.1 with some modifications as discussed here. I changed the list up some, to add some resilience and activations. No air in Nids, so no ability to test the organic AA.

However, it was clear that there is no reason to reduce the cost on Bringers of Ynnead. the formation I took with 3 Wave Serpents, 2 Firestorms, and a Nechrarch (600pt) was well worth 625. The ability to put out twenty two 4+ FF shots is frankly obscene. With prep and supporting fire from the Fire Dragon Aspect Troupe (4 FD w/ 1 Exarch, 3 Falcon, 1 Firestorm, 400pt), 600pts of Nids died in 2 activations. 14 FF hits from the Bringers alone. The two formations reduced a thousand point formation of Nids to just a Dominatrix in a single turn. The only thing that saved the Dominatrix was Fearless. It shrugged off enough spare hackdown to kill it outright.

Personally, given half a chance I would like to remove the restriction on Bringers, or make it one to one instead of two to one, but I also feel it tempers the strengths of the formation. Perhaps next time I will mechanize my Caretakers in order to give them better mobility. Webway assault put them where they needed to be, but then left them stranded there.

Well, those are my thoughts.

Thanks for posting and trying out the list Spectrar Ghost. Maybe next time you could take a Caretakers formation with the additional Guardians upgrade and mechanize them? The large formations of Guardians is really what sets it apart from the rest of the Eldar lists and gives this one a bit of flavor.

As to the 2:1 Caretaker/Bringer mix that's been something that has stayed in the list from the beginning. I wanted this to be a mostly Guardian army. As to their points costs that is something I'm open to changing if people feel that it is warranted.

Still you lost the game 3-0 to the Tyranids. Could you tell us what you think went wrong?

I tryed to pull a denied flank, and my right flank fell too soon. He created a triangle with his TNH and my blitz, and tunnelled into the middle T3. I had left my main fighting formaions too far out to do much about it. It was poor planning, plain and simple.

I was going to suggest the same about mechanized Caretakers in my post, but it is a 525 point formation with an average save of greater than 6+ (13.9% save). Dropping Serpents in front mitigates that, of course, but it just feels too soft for that kind of points sink. and I'd need two to take a Bringers host, meaning in a 3k game, I've sunk something like 1600-1700 points into three formations. A bad idea for Eldar.

I do agree that the limit makes the list play as intended, and don't seriously propose changing it. But I forsee that Caretakers will be used to get the Bringers, instead of on their own merits.

It's certainly possible or more likely probable. Of course one can always use a Storm Serpent to get a beefy unit of Caretakers to a advantageous position. I myself like to keep a large unit on foot and a small mechanized unit to grab objectives and support smaller Aspect Warrior formations in FF.

Yeah I'm almost always under the three activations per 1000pt rule of thumb, but that's the curse of the Eldar. It's easy to go overboard on upgrades.

I did just that, except I added Wraithguard instead of extra Guardians. The problem is the same as a Vampire drop. Formations just move out of your now 30cm Engage range.
