Gandalf,
4 or more dets. = a "Battle", each "Battle" is lead by a separate champion stand or Deamon Prince as the overall Battle Commander. Think of a Battle (we changed the name to Chaos Legion - it was less confusing), like an Ork Warband.
So, each SM det. has a command stand and there is one overall command stand for that Battle.
CSM - 350, ? Land Raiders - 2 for 350. ?
For Riders, all 3 types, I mentioned above how we based them, and we put them in dets. of 5 stands each. Andy's rules left something to be desired. So we took some ideas from SM2, because of that.
We based Minotaurs 5 per Cavalry base and Trolls individually, but 5 per base would work too. ?
Back to leaders, a "Battle" is lead by a Champ. stand or D/Prince, a Horde is commanded by a D/Prince or Greater Deamon. ?
We look at those like SM Battalion Cdrs and Regt. Cdrs, and played the rules to ?reflect that. ?
We added Primarchs to the command structure based on SM2. ?
The SM1 Chaos rules needed a lot of fine-tuning ... as you are seeing ...

Quote (Gandalf the Grey @ 19 2003 May,09:28) | LOL! My Dad used to tell me he played Army Men with clothes pins as a kid, and I am starting to appreciate what he meant, haha. | When I was small my father helped me take a batch of the old style (one solid piece) clothes pins and cut a small part off the base to make then flat so they would stand up. We then took some paint and made two different "squads" based on Red and Blue. I played with those quite a bit.
How simple it was back then...
Oh well, back to the here and now :-)

Bob,
That's simply amazing!! ?
Welcome aboard!!! ?
As I said, from looking at your DS/GZG site, you truly are an experienced modeler and gamer. Oh yes, I almost forgot, on Flintstone Gaming Night, we wear loin cloths made of fur, put sticks in our hair and carry stones. On Jetson Night we wrap ourselves in tin foil and put large fish bowls on our heads!

This topic has hot my wheels turning. I have always made my own bases for myself with plastic bits. Now, I am going for something a little more ambitious.
I have sculpted a few bases for myself out of epoxy resin which I will begin casting for myself and any interested parties. ?
I am making bases with and without the slots for troops. I have different slot sizes. 40k size troops, bikes and old metal robots were used to stamp the slots. I also have plans to remake the old Warlord Titan bases with feet preattatched. I may also do this for the other odd titan types since the foot is the same. I will let you know how it goes and will post my progress here. It is a venture that I am taking on out of desire for half decent bases in the scales that we play in. Wish me luck. ?

-Nice stuff Bob, very interesting..
Good luck with your plans Signius- Is it 2-part epoxy, like Green Stuff you are using?

I like it far better for making my bases, crater, rocks ect... It is soft and acts more like clay. It can even be smoothed with water. All of the other two part materials I have used, so far, have been hard and rubbery.

Yeah, Green stuff and similar products do have the rubbery problem- I have been using kids plastercine (sp?), covered in superglue or PVA to build up and contour my bases, craters etc... ...it works better and is far cheaper!

Has anyone tried making their bikes removable so you can have 2 or 3 bike stands?

Sorry if thishas been brought up in another thread but i couldn't really find it anywhere.
Anyway I thought I'd create a topic about Stormwind. What do we know about it for facts, what do people speculate, what do you hope will be in it?
I know it is supposed to cover the basic Eldar army list -Biel Tan was it? In addition it was supposed to include the Death Korps of Krieg list, Feral Orks list and an yet unspecified SM list. Now: Did anyone see the Blood Angles Dreadnought conversion on yesterdays pic of the day on the SG page? When you also consider that therre was a Baal pattern predator among the resn test pieces from Games Day I am beginning to speculate werther the "unspecified SM list" could be Blood Angles??? It would seem logical for it to be the Black Templars as there's already a test list for them in the vault + some of the minis are paintd as BT but then again the above does suggest that a Blood Angles list isn't too far awaay either...
Cheers!

Its impossible to say. What you say is right, and it could be either. I think I would bet on BT rather than BA, purely for the reason of no experimental list available for the Blood Angels yet.
I'm more interested in how the Eldar list is going. Seems to me that there's a lot of work still to do.

Its definitely Biel Tan. Aspect warriors will be plastic E40K editon ones with the exception of the Shining spears.
Thats basically all the official definites to date. The 21 pack range could be well guessed at, but quantities & setup are obviously reliant on the army list which is still in testing.
Both points for which SM army are as valid as each other, but I would go with BTs. The BA drednought was a conversion, so implies nothing, but the BAAL is a valid point. Similarly, The BT painted minis are as I have said before, Mark Bedford's (the sculptors) personal force & arent any more official in terms of a studio army than my second Warhound will be However, the army list is already in testing so to me this is the single most reliable pointer at this stage.

Well they still need to sculpt some more aspects, as the current sprue only has DR, SH, SS, WS and HB. They need to add Fire Dragons, Dire Avengers and Shining Spears.
I dont see them forcing you to convert all of those to be able to field them.
I wonder if we'd then also see aspect specific exarchs? I doubt it.

Good point, I'd completely overlooked that.
As I say, last I heard they said all the Aspects other than SS's would be plastic. Obviously we wont be seeing any NEW plastics (that_IS_ a definite) so I wonder what their plan is - different paint schemes or new metals? I'll try and find out.

If you could, that would be great. As if I need to convert them, I'd better start now to get them finished in time, ready for their release
