1) The way it is written "fails an armour save" specifically means players are reading it as "must be an attack that makes an armour save or you can not use cards." The original old rules say HIT not armour save. This is the source of the problem that has lead to this. In fact someone even suggested if you get hit by an attack that means you can't make the armour save. I.e. -6TSM on a 2+ = 7+ to save which is imposable so no armour save = no cards. IF IT IS IN ERROR THEN THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM THAT NEEDS FIXED ON GOLD PDQ!

It actually says
Quote:

Effects that do not allow an Armor Save cannot be countered.

So you can't use cards where a weapon effect doesn't allow an armour save...eg. Aura of Slaanesh, Warp Vortex, Warp Hunter, Distortion Cannon etc.

Close combat doesn't allow an armour save either and specifically states that armour saves aren't allowed in close combat so it's little wonder new players look at the two rules and come to the conclusion that Greater Daemons CAN'T use their Chaos Cards to shrug off Close Combat hits. Is this in error? If so it needs to be changed pronto, if not then I'm right in saying that close combat armies are being picked apart.

Snap Fire seems to be a change that has been added to make the rules between SM2 and NetEpic look a bit different. It causes problems conflicting with certain units rules that have had to be tweaked or outright dropped (lesser Daemon no first fire rule) or brought back problems that were properly fixed (Point Defence over silly 1-12x 15cm 6+ rolls) and had caused a certain amount of confusion and misunderstanding in play just by being allowed to exist. The only advantage it gives is obviously to armies with fire power, like Space Marine Devastators for example. There is no balance here.

There are many rules I have "sucked it up" (hehe, nice one btw) for but this is one I just will not agree on. It is the cause of lots of problems and far reaching changes that wouldn't be needed if we didn't have this rule. If it ain't broke don't fix it, well if you have to shoe horn your ideas down the player's throats then maybe it just don't fit the game.

I loved SM2, but I really like the vast majority of the NetEpic changes; they have made a good game much better.

Most of the changes were useful and for me Netepic is the logical, fan based advancement
most of the new rules are just clarifications
Its just a matter of taste if you like snap fire or not
and I am sure a lot of SM/TL/NETEPIC players use some houserules and as a houserule we dont use it.

[WARNING BUTTHURT ALERT]

Uuugh, yup house rules. But breaking into a new group and having to constantly re-repeat the same argument every time you face a new opponent is...  :heart-break:
How can I convince someone when they can point to these rules and say, THERE, there it is in black and white and that's the way it's supposed to be. C'mon, this rule was implemented and changed First Fire and many rules connected to it from it's original intention and IMO it DOES NOT work. Has there been a poll as to how many players use/like this rule before it was copied and pasted from v5 to Gold? I know for a fact I have raised this point about Snap Fire in the past. Yet another fan thread smothed over and ignored.

Plus this one rule has forced changes on other things to accommodate it into the game so each change would then need to be argued about again in turn and sorted back to what they were. Yeah, very enticing advert for gaming. I'm sure everyone would want to play afterwards.

"Hey, who's the new guy?"
"Oh, just some psycho that TheDracon invited."

So, I guess I could just shut the hell up, and take it like a pussy. Well think again.

[BUTTHURT OVER]
