Yeah. Hopefully GW learned their lesson with the Blastscape stuff :p

It's been a long time since I last bought anything from GW (except the occational pot of paint) but I think I might just get one of these. Kitting it out iwth some FW bits, some Otterware, and a healthy selection of stuff from my bits box I think it could make a nice piece of scenery. I probably ought to paint up the scenery I have sitting on a shelf first...

My wife looks on in bafflement as I start intently on packaging every time something is unboxed :)

anybody else thinking a couple of these sets would make a great siege of the emperors palace board?

That had crossed my mind yes. I may get two and make a frikkin' huge imperial/marine fortress with it. IMO the battle for the Emperor's palace from Games Day back in the day and the Rock terrain they did for this year's terrain both looked awesome but were at least 3-5 times smaller than they should have been for such big structures e.g. the Space Wolves background talks about them parking a fleet of spacecraft on the highest tower at the tip of the Fang - the best this year's GD one could manage was a single Thunderhawk.

Mind you, in spite of the steps etc. the walls are more suited to Epic scale - in 28mm scale anyone standing on top of a Rhino can just hop inside!

It's up for advance order on GW. On the plus side the new photos confirm it as looking awesome, on the downside the price is even more than I expected, curse them!

This thing is huge...and hugely expensive. But on the coolness factor it is simply off the charts. I had several of the same thoughts many of you have posted here...Emperors palace sieges, fortress monastary, chapter base etc. There would be a few scale considerations with this thing but they are minor. A little imagination says this would be an iconic installation easily seen from space (which I think was its intent). I love the idea of the HUGE defence laser turret and misile silo for use against ships in orbit--watch out BFG. Certainly a planetary defence hardpoint. I can easily sea hordes of orks or 'nids crashing against its walls like ocean waves!

Being plastic, it offers some great conversion opportunities but IMHO it doesn't need them. I would however love to put a door on it for my Warlord Titan Legions to walk through comfortably!

Despite the sacrifice to the wallet I would LOVE to obtain one of these!

I got carried away and bought two... I’ll be using the wall sections to make sections of city walls, which will be modular and either run the length of a table edge or have corners and be a massive fortress to be assaulted on all sides. The angel sided tower will make a pair of really massive towers in epic (though even then not that massive – we have plenty bigger on Earth now, even without futuristic technology and millennia to make them), I was toying with adding a Thunderhawk landing pad on top, but it probably wouldn’t fit/look right..

Hopefully I might make it some time this year, though I want to paint up a city terrain board and probably an army first.
