Yeah. Christmas is becoming a real busy event it seems   :down:

I will also endeavour to get this list updated and the battle report out, yet I may just look to get it donme over one of the relaxing days off for Christmas   :)

With all the Chaos activity going on at the moment, I thought I would start updating this list to 1.4 with some of the more minor changes.

One of those was to remove the CC Dreadnought.

Now I am going to keep the Plasma Cannon/Powerfist combo for now, and am looking at the old Chaos Dreadnought (space crusade anyone?) that was available for Chaos. Everyone has these lying around so I thought they could be represented. This appears to have the Missile Launcher and Assault Cannon attached.

So the Dreadnought option is looking like this at the moment with 2 fit-outs:

While I am updating the supplement, I may as well record the changes so far;

V1.4
- Berserkers reduced to 225 points
- Dreadclaws increased to 100 points
- CC Dreadnought removed in favour of testing Missile Launcher+Assault Cannon fit-out
- Bloodgor unit increased to 12 units
- Packmaster pistol line removed
- Predator weapon layout changed to Autocannon and 2x Lascannon - Reduced FF to 5+
- Land Raider goes up to CC5+
- Added Invulnerable Save to Bloodthirster - no idea how this was missing (missing from 2008 handbook actually)
- Terminator stat line to incorporate the EA(+1)MW & EA(+1)on the same line
- Corrected Greater Brass Scorpion to be a War Engine rather than an Armoured Vehicle

V1.5
- Removed Daemonic Engines from Support section
- Daemonic Assault Engines added to Support section
- Daemonic Support Engines added to Support section
- Added Brass Scorpion to Support Section  (need to review where these are going in the list - see next post)
- Changed Lesser Daemon pricing; 100 points per 5 units and/or 25 points each
- Reworded the use of the Stubborn ability


Still to do:

1. Strategy rule for Daemons (gaining and losing) to be removed
2. Text for Characters to be re-written to portray the special changes in initiative with the loss of a Skull Lord or higher.
3. Determine whether the transport options available through various upgrades can take a unit above the normal transport allotments
4. Cerberus Warhound to be reviewed (weapon, cost, and critical hit layout) - Crushing Jaws (??)
5. Ravager - Maybe Khorne-ise it a little more (??)
- Support or Attack? Yet to consider

Updated supplement to be posted after the list of 'to do' is completed sometime this weekend

Brass Scorpions and Greater Brass Scorpions

What would people like to see with these options. I have a few thoughts yet I am leaving it open for all the Khorne/World Eater fans out there.

Current selections:

- 2 Brass Scorpions = 250 points - Either in Support or War Engine Section - undecided
- 1-3 Greater Brass Scorpions = 200 points for the first one and 175 points per one there-after
- Currently in War Engines Section


Ideas / Proposals

1. 2-4 Brass Scorpions = 125 points each   (Greater Brass Scorpion would remain as above in the War Engines section)

2. 1 Greater Brass Scorpion and up to 2 optional Brass Scorpions = 200 points + 125 points per optional Brass Scorpion

3. 2 Brass Scorpions with option to purchase an extra Greater Brass Scorpion = 125 points per Brass Scorpion and +200 points Greater Brass Scorpion

4. Brass Scorpions: Combination of up to 2-4 Scorpions
- 125 points per Brass Scorpion
- 200 points per Greater Brass Scorpion; +175 points for every one after the first

--- Also need to determine where such units belong ; Support or War Engine section ---



It's the World Eaters, so do we want to see something different apart from the other lists?

Any other ideas out there?

Well I am going off to enjoy Christmas day now and open up some prezzies.   :)

Seeing there has been no feedback on the scorpions, I am leaning towards the following inclusion:

War Engine Section:

Scorpions : 1 Greater Brass Scorpion OR 2-4 Scorpions in any Combination
- Greater Brass Scorpion: 200 Points Each
- Brass Scorpions: 125 points each

This would allow the Scorpions to be taken in any combination that is currently available in any list, yet also offer the ability to mix and match. It also allows people to have 'Scorpion' armies yet at the cost of other War Engine or Naval support options.

It also makes this a single selection within the army list which is a good thing.

Like stated above, I am encouraging any further ideas or feedback

seems pretty neat, but is there any need for "slow firing" on the plasma cannon? It doesn't seem overpowering and it'd a PITA to keep track of. Unless you give it 2xAP/T4 of course, but it'd still be a faff.

Slow firing for the Plasma Cannon is a standard entry for all Plasma Cannons across all forces I'm afraid.

I went with Plasma Cannon due to the old 40K rougue trader Chaos Dreadnought which had a Plasma Cannon and Power Claw. It is obviously something that will keep getting looked at, and this type of feedback always helps

This game was to test some of the changes specifically to the Daemonic Assault/Support Engines discussed on the previous 2-3 pages. It was an enjoyable game and I feel that we have been successful at a balanced and competitive list. With the changes being made to the supplement, we should see this hitting an updated version over the next couple of days (with any luck).

Well here it is people. Barring something changing, this 20th game will be played tomorrow.

I fully intend on taking the Harbinger bomber and may try fitting in a unit of the Scorpions as a combined unit (normal and greater versions).



This should be a great game and a milestone/achievement that I set my self earlier this year that I can mark of as achieved

I have done some work on the stats for the Greater Brass Scorpion and decided that 200 points is too high for the list.

Now by itself as a single unit it is 200 points. In a formation where you are forced to take more than one, then I feel it's real cost should be 175, so that is what I am going to go with for tomorrow's game. In this respect, I will be replacing the 'Greater Brass Scorpion' entry with:

Scorpion Engines - Two to four Scorpion Engines in any combination
Greater Brass Scorpion - 175 points each  (DC3 version)
Brass Scorpion - 125 points each (DC2 version)

With that worked out, I have nutted out tomorrow's list against the Marines as below. It will test the Harbinger (first test to be recorded on Taccoms), as well as the Daemonic Support Engines, Scorpion Engines, and I will even give the unit of 4 Defilers a spin.

- World Eaters Berserker Retinue + Skull Lord + Abhumansx6
- World Eaters Berserkers Retinue + Skull Lord + Abhumansx6
- World Eaters Chosen Retinue + Slaughterfiendsx2 (scout ability)
- World Eaters Bike Retinue

- Daemonic Support Engines (Doom Blasters x4)
- Daemonic Support Engines (Cannons of Khorne x4)
- Defiler Engines (Defilersx4)

- Scorpion Engines (1xGreater Brass Scorpion + 2x Brass Scorpions)

- Caligula the Harbinger Bomber

That is 9 activations that I hope remain competitive. I would have liked to build up the Defilers a little with the Assault Walkers upgrade as well as have a unit of Bloodgors, yet the Harbinger and the Scorpions are a real bite on points. I just hope they are worth it.

Hoping to have this reported on before 2009 comes to an end

I have 5 mins between tasks so I thought I would update more changes for posterity's sake.

After further discussion, the Dreadnought has been reviewed in what role it has within the list.

The main role is seen to be part of a drop retinue and that is what it is priced at (the dreadnought that is).

While we have priced the Dreadclaws at 100 points, this covers them in some respect, yet we also feel that the Chosen are paying too much for such a drop. With all this in mind, we have decided to simplify the dreadnought and fix the dreadclaw price as follows:

Dreadnought
to be repriced at 25 points
Armour to decrease from 3+ to 4+ (older Dreadnought armour)
Weapons: Plasma Cannon and Power Fist - for now, not that it really matters. This may change in the future


Dreadclaws
25 points per two units transported

So what effect does this have?

Foot slogging Dreadnoughts are priced at their foot value. With their limited move, range and shooting, we feel that their impact is minimal. Also adding them to a Berserker unit means that you will spend an extra 25 points (125 points total upgrade) to drop the whole formation.

Chosen can now Dreadclaw Drop for the appropriate 50 points if they so chose

Other changes:

We feel that the Abhumans upgrade of allowing 6 Bloodgors may be a little too good. In this respect, we will be looking at making this upgrade on 3 Bloodgor units or up to 2 Ogryn Berserker units for the same poiints as in the list. With the boost to the Bloodgor unit going to 12 models (from a previous change), this should balance that unit out as well.

Well there have been alot of changes. Many pert ideas have been morphed towards feedback and general balance which is fine with me. The list probably has changes to come, but for the immediate future, I feel we have tackled most of the issues.

We still need to review (Khornise?) the Titans, and of course see about compliance with the Black Legion list where appropriate once it is released.

For now, I will work on getting the 20th battle report out, and then I will start working on the very updated and different version of this supplement. Generally it is a whole new list with the basic framework in place.
