Plasma weapon play.
I don't like the idea of just adding barrels that much. I'm thinking about putting the third barrel of the plasma cannon under the other two - in a triangle as now - but set back and with it's own housing and coils, a bit like an underslung grenade launcher.

I always saw the larger plasma weapons as just that, larger bore with a larger power pack letting them fire more shots than the smaller plasma blastgun.

I like the triangle arrangement, and would prefer the third barrel not to be set back, so as to aesthetically mirror the Laser Blaster (triple turbolaser).

Triangle arrangement is cool. Are you going to arrange the coils in a Y shape or just a T-shape? I'd prefer the first solution.

Quadruple is cool for the Destructor BTW.

I think the Y shape could look good, I'll mock one up and see.
Here's the Velcro, nearly finished:

OK, I wasn't a fan of the triangle or the square with just extra barrels added for the new plasma weapons, but this is awesome!

Indeed it is  Distinctly different yet still recognizable as a plasma weapon. For the destuctor how about an X shape?

Regarding the Velcro cannon: Looking good. I wonder a bit about the overall width of the weapon though: Would it be better to have the coil thingys brought closer the the body of the weapon, making it look alightly slimmer overall? Difficult to tell just from this pic, so it might look just fine when attached to the body and couterbalanced by a weapon on the other arm. :)

In the modern background / rules, the Plasma Cannon no longer exists, and the Plasma Destructor is the same as a Plasma Blastgun but with one extra shot (I think; I summon Black Legion to confirm or deny this!).

Since our Walking Robot projects are generally following the modern rules, this means there will only be one large plasma weapon made*, which people can call a Cannon or a Destructor according to their personal preference.

* Unless Jonluke feels like making another one.

The width is there to balance it against the larger stock of the gattling cannon, but will render some different views of a slimline version against the current one for you.

Am I right in thinking the Reaver cannot wield a Plasma Destructor? And the loss of the Plasma Cannon makes me sad.

I know I've brought this up before, but would it be too much to ask for you to design these arm weapons with some consideration given to the people who will want to cram them onto the shoulder mounts?

My thinking is that (if making two different versions of each weapon is not on the table), maybe you could could have the armor cowl (which tends to cover the lower half of the receiver on each type of gun)as a separate part, and have a mounting socket on both the upper and lower sides of each gun. Then, for mounting on the arm, the cowling part would cover the lower socket. With shoulder mounting, the cowling part wouldn't be used, as the shoulder armor suffices.

I realize you are going the 'appocalypse rules' route for these things, but I would point out that FW doesn't limit itself to current rules (or the practical limits of ammunition storage).

Another option is to include some beefed up targeter or some other technical doohickey running along the length of the barrel. That would make the overall part look bigger, but not upset your vision of having the main barrel having a size comparable to the shadowsword model.

Actually, Forgeworld's rules are the same as the Apocalypse rules, and neither allow the larger weapons to be fitted to the carapace.

It cannot; only the larger Warlord's reactor generates enough power to run it.

Groovy :)Thanks. I see your point. It looks fine the way it was.
