There are models - Forge World do Ork Bommerz that are very much bigger than their Fighta-Bommerz. 3 different sorts too and they're lovely models.

See here.

Yeah, I've seen those. They arelovely. But they look far more deadly than the stats for the Big Bombers:

5+ save
2x Heavy Shootaz 15 cm AP5+/AA5+, Fixed Forward
Heavy Bomb Racks 15 cm 1BP, Fixed Forward

Yeah but tech is better than looks when it comes to airpower :)

You have a point. Those things are clearly of a size to be a DC2 bomber and a lot more up-armed than that.

I reckon there's a very strong case for re-doing those Bommer stats to suit the models which have since come out. Net-EA lists should match current ranges where possible and it would be good to have a tested stat-line suitable for these rather than one that is vastly under-powered and these not having any stats. What do others think?

For those using the FW Ork aircrafts theya use the FW Ork Fighta as Epic Fighta Bommerz and the FW Ork Fighta Bommerz as Epic Big Bommerz.

looks the part. Is that some kind of rear gunner on that FW Fighta-Bommer model?

Rather than re-tooling the unit, I'd say just make a new unit that matches the model.  This way everybody wins from a wider range of units available.  If you change the stats, those with smaller bombers will develop bomber-envy.

Guess so. Anyone fancy throwing together some stats for an Ork Big Bommer? (best IMO to amalgamate the 3 different types into one generic profile as with other units)

Yes. Now we know why it has a 360° arc of fire  :)

What models do you use for Ork Big Bombers

I use the FW Fightabommas, as they are considerably larger than the SG versions.  When they are in a formation with the SG models, there is no confusing which ones are big bommas.

Personally, I'd use the FW Bommas as Landa proxies if I had them.  They are the right size and are bristling with gunz to generate a random number of AP attacks.

I may do that sometimes, but the models don't really look like Landas - they don't look like they could land without a runway and don't have decent sized entry points for mass disembarking.

I'd like to see some proper Big Bommer stats thrown together to do them properly personally.

If that's an issue for you, Landas don't really look like they would work, either.

Landas don't even look like they could fly!    But I think they do look pretty cool with the 'mouth' open.

Landas are a rip off of Thunderbird 2 and look vaguely feasible as a rocket boosted craft, though god knows how they brake/land (I'd imagine semi-crash landing if it wasn't for the fact they can fly off again).

Big Bommerz are a valid unit type in current background and Aeronautica and there are 3 lovely models available for them... is there any really good reason not to make epic stats for them for those that have them when we do this with virtually every other FW unit?

If someone wishes to use them as Landas, fine, no problem and I plan to possibly do this myself sometimes if I don't make make/buy Landas separately, but it would be nice to have proper stats too.
