Now having pulled the top 4 SM lists, I see that there are actually, two ground-pounders and two air assault.

I may start introducing myself as a Marine player with a top-four list now.

Just written my report over at Ninjabread.  Must say a big thanks to the Epic UK team for a sterling event, and all five of my opponents for good fun games.  I look forward to attending a wider selection of the events next year with the armies I'm currently planning.

Can we have the David-Bowie-in-a-pirate-hat guy at all future Epic UK events please?

My report is up on my blog

http://mephiston.blogspot.com/2009/11/e ... ament.html

I have notes from all games (Thanks to Chroma's report sheets) and I may do full play by play reports but as I didn't take photos they may not make much sense!

I'd just like to say thanks to everybody for making my first Epic tournament a great weekend. Great group of people, good games all round and I learned a lot. Will definitively be back for more next year :)

Looks like we are going to need bigger venues!

Thanks to all for another good set of battles, and especially to Matt A for the last game. I will post the couple of questions raised elsewhere.

And as ever, a special thanks to Matt O for running the event, getting some sponsored stuff, sorting out the food and wrestling with the printer.

Hi All.

A big thanks to all my opponants and a huge sorry for all the swearing!

Cherers to Kev for giving myself and Matt Arnold a lift to the venue.

Well done to dave for winning (AGAIN!) and clean sweeping everything this year near enough.

A big thankyou to Matt O for putting on a great tournament with food and snacks!

now on anothe note the soft scores yet again F*****d me over from 2nd to 4th. This is war, a tournament should not have painting and sportsmanship as part of the score! sure people should not cheat and may have a good swear at their dice (I certainly do) but this is not the first time this year this has happened to me.  :)

Matt O I hope your listening.

The Phantom.

I've been knocked from 1st to second because of painting lazyness :) I think its fine - there is the everything for the win on the day and then for those who can't paint enough there is the chance of the championship :)

Incidentally I'm impressed no one uses the system to 'get' their opposition. You could easily say mark down Daves army on the options 1 and 4 just to ensure that you get a boost over him in the end results. Tis perhaps more telling that its a nice tourney environment than the high scores that are given out!

Without high painting scores I'll be put to shame!
How splitting the two? Having a painting competition at each event as well as a tournament? THat gives me an even better excuse to try getting better at playing!

EDIT: that said I do view gaming as an INVOLVED hobby: just being good at winning does not one a good a gamer make! Nicely painted armies, nice terrain and a nice opponent all make things so much more fun; regardless of win or lose.

I've noted before that I'd like to see this happen.

For the main tournament, a simple "PAINTED SATISFACTORILY?" tick would suffice, whilst a painting competition could be much more involved in the style of Golden Daemon or whatever.

Best Conversion/Scratchbuild
Best Painted Army
Best War Engine
Best Overall Appearance

All could be judged...

Couldn't agree more Ryan

All could be judged...

Addendum... maybe this'd be too much to do every time, but what about once a year at the EpicUK GT!

E&C,

You've hit the nail on the head their; at the GT we had a player withdraw from the event the day before. This meant that I had to fill in as a spare player and let me tell you ... it was a mission  :). If we ran this then I'm sure others would want to see the entries, and so that means more photos, more photo editing and alot more time.

I just don't think there is the time to do this im afraid ... plus the additional organising before the event.

However if someone else wanted to run it then I haven't got a problem with it; I'm sure we could find space at events.

Thank you

As those who were at the glamrock AGM know painting will be altered next year - pending approval from the absent committee member

In what manner?
