The other night, when we played our second game of EA, we had a diffenence in opinion about the actual formation size of a Space Marines Tactial command.
My guess is that the formation size is 9 (6 tactical units + 3 rhinos). The other opinion was that it´s 6 (6 tactical units + 0 rhinos, because the points for the rhinos are already included in the points for the tactical command). I´m pretty sure 9 is right, but I´d still like to hear what you think.

Thanks in advance!
Michael

the rhinos are still units, even if they come included in the points so 9 units total.

The formation size will vary depending on how the formation is used. It has 6 bases, plus a transport option, which may be 3 rhinos if you chose to have the formation ground pounding or dropped from a landing craft, drop-pods if you choose to planetfall the formation, or nothing at all if you chose to put the formation in a thunderhawk gunship or to garrison the formation. It may also be less than 3 rhinos if you buy any razorbacks for the formation.

The cost of 3 rhinos is included in the formation price, but you won't always take them, depending on how the formation is intended to be used.

@ zombocom: Of course your´re right. But assuming I take 6 tactical units an 3 Rhinos the formation size is 9, right?

Yes, Formation size is 9 so 18 Blast markers to break them (before casualties).

I believe this is a question concerning Victory Points in a tied Game.

AFAIK it is the number of individual units that started the game.

As Zombocom has stated the Tactical formation could start with a varying number of units.

If you started with 6 Tactical stands and 3 rhinos in the formation it would count as 9 units for working out VP's.

If you started with 6 Tactical stands and no rhinos (to put them in a T-Hawk etc.) then the formation would count as 6 units for working out VP's.
