SO, today at my local gaming group, to mark the club's birthday we had a special day, starting at 10 am, with demo games of Warmachine, Space Hulk, and Epic - run by myself.  So I'm taking a new member through a game of Epic (turns out he's got two Epic armies stashed away, and is keen to bring them to club regularly, win!  :grinning: ).

Anyway, another member sees we're playing Epic and says "oh, my mate just gave me a load of Epic miniatures.  Dunno what to do with them.  I'll bring them down so you can have a look."

I say, "yeah, okay then do that."

When he returns, the effect is like someone going in to an antique musical instrument shap and saying "I found this old violin.  It says 'Stradivarius' on the back.  Dunno if it's any good to you."

Basically, I had to be picked up off the floor.

As well as a load of SM1 Marines, Rhinos and Land Raiders, this guy had been given FOR NOTHING a load of METAL SM/AT RAPIERS, MORTARS, THUDGUNS, and ROBOTS.  Oh, and a Termite too...

My reaction was so exstatic that everyone in the enitre room stopped what they were doing, silence decended, and I think everyone was keld rapt as I explained the value of what this guy had BEEN GIVEN FOR NOTHING!!!1!1one by his mate...

Anyway, later on I sorted out his army, turns out he's got almost 6,000 points of Marines including two original metal warhounds and Reaver.

Oh, the best bit was when I was telling him how all the original Epic stuff, like the Plastic Warlord Beetleback Titans, are highly saught after and valuable.

And he turns round and says "Oh.  There was a few of them too, but I threw them in the bin, because they were broken."

:suspect:    :_(

Fortunately he's forgotten to put his bins out, so is going to fish them out.

To cap it all, he had 4 original metal Bombards.  As these are for Guard, I suggested he sold them.  Then I realised I could use them for my Renegade Guard as Traitor Artillery.  So I said "I'll buy these off you'.  And he said "It's alright, ou can have them."

So what a day!  I just could not believe it when I saw all those original, metal Marine minis.  Incredible.

Oh, and incase you don't believe me, here's just a selection:

Looks like a Mole, not a Termite to me.

Okzy, corrected.  Whatever you want to call it, it's a very very very rare well oop Epic miniature that many people on here would hand have paid a lot of money for, given to someone for nowt.  Insanity.  ???

When you say Metal Terminators ... You mean the current ones ?  I was unaware of any SM1 Vintage Terminators ?  And as always ... I'm always looking for SM1 Metal Marine Infantry ... :)

How many jetbikes and bikes did you/he get?

I have a pitiful few, not even enough for my 1st compnay :(

Still I've managed to reacquire a couple of hundred metal mk6's, sadly mostly the same pose unlike the ones I lost :(
