Well it's out now.

I will be braving the hordes of over excited children in Manchester sometime today in order to spend my hard earned.

Gents.

I'm currently updating the list document, looking for a little advice/inspiration.

Having a look through the 40k Codex and currently re-statting the Thunderwolves, I've noticed an element in their background which states that they are supposedly absent from Imperial records it doesn't go into great detail but I can imagine it's because certain elements in the Inquisition would come down on them like a tonne of bricks. So, making no secret of the fact that I think they're very silly indeed I'm thinking of including them in the list but introducing a special rule that they can only be taken if you don't have any allies in your list.
Do people think that's too harsh?

If you make them a viable alternative to warhounds, yes. And a decent flak alternative.

In fact there is an idea, why not have a whole load of silly/dodgy gear that they have in the fluff? What I can think of off the top of my head would be their lunar cruiser, thunderwolves and leman russ exterminators (twin ac 30cm AP4+/AT5+/AA6+).

Either work it into the main list (probably in the form of an alternate 'allies' box) or do a simple alternate list with the 13th company (cross ref with Rug) to take the whole piss off the inquisition thing further.

(As for deleted from record we all know because its just silly.)

"Wolf wolf wolf wolf wolfity wolf. Wolf wolf, wolfo wolfy wolf wolf wolf. Wolf? Wolf!" -Attributed to Wolf Lord Egil Ironwolf, On the intricacies of tactical wolfare.

Oh have you read all their background? :)

(It is a very wrong website.)

Right I think that might be a plan then, I think it might be just as easy to make them come out of the 1/3 allowance to reflect their relative rarity.

I think someone needs to do the Pretty Marine list too....

I am shocked to discover a scanned copy of the codex online. What is the world coming to.

Ahem. You might want to say that you heard rumors of a friend of a friend of a friend having heard somewhere in metro some people talking about perhaps having had found a scanned Space Wolf codex or two instead

Plausible deniability and all that.

While there's probably nothing wrong with admitting you downloaded a codex, GW always oscillates between not giving a toss and being extremely belligerent. But as long as we avoid posting links this forum should be fine.

Of course I didn't download it, merely saw it. I was after all conducting a legitimate search for where I could buy the real codex cheaply.

Still there is apparently nothign to interest an Epic player that isn't contained in the old codex or on the warseer thread with the generic details of the units.

Have they finally cleared up the old confusion as to exactly how many Space Wovles there are?

I wouldn't know. :)

I actually sincerely hope not. I prefer fluff where the details are scant. Saying the Space Wolves never conformed to the post heresy restrictions and run their affairs independently of the Imperium is far more interesting.

Means 40k addicts can pretend there is a couple of hundred more and I can think they are a sensible size (there is clearly at least 10,000 of the buggers split between their forge area - hundreds strong - their newly implanted marines - running around Fenris on training missions - and their thousands of blood claws - dying at a prodigious rate. Plus we all know the helix whatever thing makes their gland things mature extremely fast leading to rapid recruitment and fast replacement!).

I doubt it. After all, all Administratum employees who ever tried to find out kept dying from Wolf Flu, symptoms of which include looking surprisingly similar to having been hit with a Thunder Hammer.
