Quote (primarch @ 13 2003 Sep.,22:34) | Hi!
I once heard "communism" was just a longer more painful route to reach capitalism....
Primarch |
I am going to regret saying this. But I'm still going to say it...
There is a reason why "Capitalism" works somewhat better than "Communism". Capitalism is based on the premise of human selfishness and greed. Because this basic foundation of human nature has been got right, and built upon, it works.
Communism, OTOH, makes the same mistake as the humanistic philosophy, namely thinking that there are totally unselfish human beings around. The thing practiced in Soviet Union, however, ?should be called "Red Fascism" as that is a far more accurate description of it.
That said, I don't give pure capitalism high marks either for the simple reason that it _is_ based on human selfishness and greed. Certainly I don't belive for a second that the so-called "market forces" automatically provide what is good for people. "Market Forces" tend to give to those who already have and take from those who don't have.
It's a _very_ imperfect world. ?

Well Capitalism works over Communism ... for many reasons, good and bad. ?However being a child of Capitalism all my life, a free market society does give everyone the chance to succeed, in theory. Your opinion is not unusual for many Europeans. It does not upset me, we are use to the criticism ! ? ?Of course Stalin's version of Communism had as much to do with real Communism as bin Laden does with Islam ...

Hi!
Mojarn, no need to be apologetic, thats EXACTLY the reason capitalism works. Any economic or government model that does not take into account the "natural" drives of the human being is doomed to faliure. Communism and most "socialist" movements don't work precisely because people want "things" usually more than they really need. As a race we have not yet evolved past our base and petty deires for "our own good" instead of whats good for our race in general.
If you like "trueisms" here's a couple more:
Communism is capitalism for the few....
Democracy only grants an illusion of freedom, power is still held by but a few powerful interest groups....
My rights as an individual end when there is no longer anything to profit from them....
My neighbors rights begin when they do not impinge on my profits or selfish needs....

I lost the old thread for this, so I thought that I would start a new one.
The new Land Speeder is the picture of today. What do you think?
Then there is one more picture that I have found!
[Edited to confirm with new board policy!]

Yum! I like the drop pod. Nowadays I am crazy enough to buy them; in the old days they were too expensive for me.

They're nice. I was expecting all the marine stuff to be Templars first before other chapters.

Like the land speeder, but it looks a little rough, maybe it's the paint-job, I don't know...
I'm off to find the "hidden" picture now.

The landspeeder Typhoon isn't specific to any chapter. And based on the current Templars list, the only units that will need new models are the Land Raider crusader, and neophyte bikers.

I was going by colours. I had seen a load of black templar marines, so thought that the marines would be in that colour scheme upon release. However these two were in dark green, like Dark Angels (although their landspeeder would be black if it were raven guard).
The good thing about not being black, is that its easier to spot details.

Ah ok, I was thinking of the models not the paint schemes. I would guess they will have pictures of models from several different marine chapters. The pictures on the Epic site of the new SM vehicles were from several different chapters.

It is used at the shows he's present at so has been seen quite a lot, but its not a "studio" force as such.
