I also need to speak to those nice chaps at EpicUK about the best possible date and other small details, like how one runs a tourney...

That won't be a problem,

I've got a standard set of excel and word documents (about 10) for each event I run; I can email you a copy nearer the time so you can alter them for your event.

Also please feel free to send us an email with any queries you may have; hopefully, at the end of this year, I will provide a -step-by-step' how to run a tournament guide thing.

So your entry fee will cover the cost of the hall, however are you thinking about having any prizes, woodern spoon, nibbles? Also how are you going to ask for the entry fee ... Paypal? If so you need to add an amount to cover Paypal fees.

If you do get more money than the cost of the tournament (which is a good thing as you don't want to be out of pocket) then you can always add Games Workshop vouchers etc ... it's allways better to charge a little bit more to make sure you cover your costs, then to charge too little.

I'm on holiday next week until mid October, but after that I should be able to help you with any queries ... Also if you're able to make it to any EPIC UK event then I would be very happy to show you want happens.

Thank you

Okay, I'm making more small, tentative steps towards making this tournament happening (I must be mad!!!   ).

Before I do anything else, I just want to check something with those on here who have expressed that they may be Potential Attendees:

It looks like this tourney will most likely happen in March, at GW Northampton.

As it may well be easier, and certainly a lot cheaper, to have the tournament there on a Sunday, I need to know would having the tournament on a Sunday mean you would not be able to attend it?

Thanks for any further feedback  :)

Sunday's not normally a problem for me. I should be there.

The only potential issue with a Sunday is that the store is likely to be open for less time, making it tight for 3 games.

Ahh, that's a very good point Mephiston.  I'll have to speak to the manager at GW Northampton again and see how much the prices are likely to be for the Saturdays in March...

Right, after corresponding with Mephiston via e-mail, the consensus is that using a GW store as the venue just won't be practical due to the time constraints that come with the venue (especially on a Sunday).

Mephiston is goigng to make some enquiries with his contacts, and I'm putting out an appeal here:

If you are a part of a gaming group, or know of gaming groups, either in or around Northampton or Cambridge, please can you let me have their details.

I would like to speak to any groups to find out if they know of any venues there that are used for tournaments locally.

Thanks!

I can try and track down my old blood bowl organiser who got a church hall for the Cambridge carnage.
