Hi All

I have moved this discussion to a new thread as no-one seemed able to change the heading under the older thread.

Before going into this, note that this projcet of developing Angron is for the list in the discussion that can be found here : World Eater Thread - Morgan & Frogbear

Specifically, the cost for Angron have been costed for that list and the Blood Rage rule which is repeated here:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.....Any formation (excluding Chaos Navy or spacecraft) that fails its Action Test (see
1.6.2 of the Epic: Armageddon rulebook) must make an Engage action or Shoot at -1 rather
than a Hold action.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the main discussion has been around having an Infantry version of Angron and a war engine version. For our playtests and to keep in line with current rules, we are looking to introduce Angron as a character upgrade. Firstly let me present the current Daemon Prince unit we have for the World Eater List v0.8:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Daemon Prince
Cost: 100 Points
Type: Character (Infantry)
Speed: 15cm (30cm)
Armour: 3+(4+)
CC: 2+
FF: 5+
Weapons                           Range             Firepower               Notes
Daemon Weapon            Base Contact     Assault Weapons     MW, Extra Attacks(+3)
Battle Roar of Khorne    (15cm)           Small Arms
Notes: Fearless, Reinforced Armour, Supreme Commander, Teleport.
The Daemon Prince may have wings. If this option is taken he counts as having Jump Packs and his speed is increased to 30cm. However his armour save is reduced to 4+. The different values for taking wings are shown in (brackets) above.

..and here is our proposal for Angron:

Angron - Primarch of the World Eaters (Post Heresy)
Cost: 175 Points
Type: Character (Infantry)
Speed: 30cm
Armour: 4+
CC: 2+
FF: 5+
Weapons                           Range             Firepower               Notes
Angron's Black Blade      Base Contact     Assault Weapons     MW, Extra Attacks(+3)
Roar of Hate                (15cm)           Small Arms
Notes: Daemonic Pact, Fearless, Inspiring, Invulnerable Save, Jump Packs, Reinforced Armour, Supreme Commander, Teleport,.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So essentially Angron is paying an extra 50 points to gain Inspiring and Invulnerable Save, and then another 25 points to gain Daemonic Pact. Also you are forced to take the Jump Packs (Wings) option.

So what do people think? Does it fit? Is the costing reasonable?

This unit replaces a unit within any squad it goes into, and should be a normal unit stand.

Personally, when I play it, I am going to be using the older Angron model even if he is way bigger than a normal infantry stand.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers....

Space Marine Angron

Demon Angron

From the 40k wiki
The most notable action Angron took after the Heresy was the First War for Armageddon where he and his demonic entourage were cast back to the Warp by an elite force of a hundred  Grey Knight Terminators. Another notable action by the Primarch was the so called 'Dominion of Fire'. During the middle of the 38th millennium, Angron and fifty thousand World Eaters slaughtered their way through Imperial space for over two centuries. They took over seventy sectors and only a combined force of four space marine chapters, two titan legions and more than thirty Imperial Guard regiments were sent on a crusade to retake what they had lost. Ninety percent of what was lost has since been recovered by the forces of Mankind.2 Angron has not taken place in any major actions following this.

He had a datasheet in white dwarf, anyone seen it? Like for instance what wepaons does he use?

This one is straight from the 'Renegades' book:

"Angron fights with a mighty Chaos blade of black iron etched with runes of doom and destruction."

In Armageddon it appears to be called 'Angron's Black Blade'

Also, the Battle-Roar or 'Roar of Hate' is throughout all the fluff.

Wh40k stats for Angron can be foundhere:
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_C....ageddon

I guess your stats for him are sensible :)
Still needs his Bloodthirster bodyguard. While Epic Bloodthisrsters are more based an Angrradth stats how about developing smaller Bloodthirster based on Codex Chaos Daemons stats?

Lesser Bloodthirster
Type Speed Armour CloseCombat Firefight
Armoured Vehicle 30cm 4+ 3+ 6+
Weapon Range Firepower Notes
Daemon Axe (base contact) Assault weapon Extra attacks(+2), Macro-weapon
Death Strike (15cm) Small arms -

Notes: Jump Packs, Reinforced Armour.

Lesser Bloodthirster

That is awesome BL

I will put this idea forward for Angron in our World Eater list.

It's an extra rule, but we shall see.

Thanks for your input on this one.

Well Angron is already a Special Character/Collectors Model so we can go a step further to develope a Special Formation/Collectors Formation anyway :D

I wouldn't give it more stuff with it. Rather handle it like the BT avatar, its accompanied on the same stand by some of father christmas's elves. I would make Angron the same. Angron and 2 greater demons, do stats for the whole lot together. Maybe make him LV as well. Its not like he needs to go in a  rhino.

Actually saying all that I wouldn't give him that body guard - it epic you have to summon those beasts!

Instead how about give him the summoning boost, so you can summon the bloodthirster more easily to the battlefield?

TRC

Funny thing is, the boost to summoning was something I was thinking about last night.  :))

At present we are merely looking at keeping to the ruleset and therefore Angron will be taking the form of a Daemon Prince infantry unit.

Some interesting ideas from bboth BL and yourself, and some of it may make it in as a 'fanlist addition' for unnoficial games and playtests. Who knows.

Thanks for all your input guys. Muchly appreciated   :D
