To be frank the final results have come out rather ugly (and not in a good way), but given my lack of spare robots ill use them anyway :glare:

I decided to sculpt and cast a 3 part obliterator with poseable arms. The green went  well, and I did get better definition in the GS than my previous infantry, especially on the press moulded shins. Unfortunately this detail has not  translated onto the cast output, resulting in a lot of blobby looking terminators- as you can see. Any ideas?

Dude

Are you serious?  They are awesome!!

If you intend on throwing them away as junk, I will give you my address as the dump site.

You are too hard on yourself methinks. 6mm remember, not 28mm.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I don't know anything much about casting.

I can definitely understand the disappointment of these not coming out quite as well as you'd hoped. But as Lextar and frogbear have observed, they're still really damn good. I'd be ecstatically pleased with them!

My idea is that you should try again. 6mm figures are difficult.

Dude it is great that you are constantly aspiring towards perfection, but those are great! They really are, I would definitely buy some and are probably better than what GW would come up with!

It's good that you are constantly trying to better yourself, but credit where credit's due.  Those little fellas rock.

Would they be better of in metal or resin? Ill try venting the mould differently and if there’s still no joy Ill remould it when the new rubber arrives.

Thanks for the supportive comments guys, these cast/painted close-ups show the detail/detail issues better (i still need to work on faces i think  )  :

They look great, but aren't they a little small? I thought obliterators were significantly bigger than terminators?

These do look good, especially as first attempt. I would be happy to field these on the gaminbg table but can understand if you want to improve them further.

The previous comment about size also is a fair one. If you rework them would be great if you can make them slightly bigger.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with for second attempt. keep up the great work!

Cheers

James

I like I said, I like'm !  And the good thing about Chaos, they don't have to be perfect ! :))  Long age my buddy tried to cast Epic terminators in resin ...  Well they were not good enough for Imperial.  But ... worked fine for Nurgle Terminators ... :alien:  :)

Guys you have to look closely. They ARE already bigger than Terminators. Ok not bigger than Chaos Terminators but big they are.

And i absolutely love them! I really don't think GW would have come up with a better model. Really  :D
I guess i need 9 or 18 of them (3 or 6 bases)...

I'd prefer some models that are bigger than my Chaos Terminators. Having Obliterators that are smaller than my Chaos Terminators wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing to me.

Exactly. They would be OK if Apocolocyntosis was happy with first attempt. However would be even better if bigger so that larger than Chaos Terminators.

So if Apocolocyntosis is going to work on them further would be great if he can take opportunity to increase them slightly in size.

Cheers

James
