*chuckle* Well it is hardly any surprise that I'm looking forward to it.

I was never a big fan of the FW concepts. The big problem to me being that visually they start to get really close to Tyranids (insectoid) and Necrons (robotic, sometimes insectoid). They really need to look cruder than Necrons and suitably mechanical not to be confused with anything tyranid. I think it is the carapace-like armor that gives the Tyranid connection. Personally I think the smooth curves need to be more angular for a non-alligened look.

Here's the interim state of the tread shape.

What I liked about the concept sketches was that they were different looking armor, genuinely distinct from our usual box-with-treads-and-something-rotatey-on-top.

I'm not dissing (disrespecting) traditional tanks - Buddha knows I've bought, designed and manufactured enough. But man does not live on human armor alone.

Lol. Of course not :) Nice to see your skills with organic shapes improve too. It is true that 40k has been plagued (if you'll excuse the pun) by endless and frankly rather unimaginative boxy loyalist vehicles with spikes and skulls and bubols all over them. Personally I'm just colored by the images from the old Realms of Chaos books and the original Khorne/Slaanesh/Nurgle Daemon engines which are still distinctly visually different from anything else. I guess it is the overlapping visual reference material with competing races I dislike. Not that the shapes are not interesting in themselves, but the visual concept that says "this is Chaos, or Tyranids or whatever" just starts to become a bit fuzzy. Of course it is entirely possible that GW is trying to change the overall visual identity of Chaos, similar to how Orks went from "Space Germans" to the mindless brutes they are today.

My rounded shape progress is mostly due to the one kajillion different sorts of sweeps, lofts, and extrusions we did for the Trident.

:p  Yeah. That almost got out of hand   :))
A usefull skill to master for future projects though.

The trim does add a lot to the overall chaosy feel, so I am still looking forward to seeing what you come up with once it has been properly gubbinized

As often quoted by fictional character Gerald McGuire, Tom Webb has "demonstrated the currency to me". I will now place the non-ordered slug into stasis and proceed to the Enforcer chassis.

Yay !!!  Enforcer !! :agree:

Yes the trim is what miss on almost all CSM vehicles in Wh40k. Only the Defiler has it. :( But i see it as one of the defining features of chaos vehicles. CSMs power armour is all over with trims and arrows and horns and spikes and skulls and mutations.

Agree with Legion 4 :agree:

Not to down play the Otter's vast skills ... we all know of his magic !  But the Armored Slug was a  bit weird to me ... Go figure !  But an updated Enforcer would work for me more then then Sluggo. :vD  I'm happily awaiting a number of our crews' ingenius machinations -  E&C's 5 flavors of Malys, O-man's DKoK AFVs & guns, E/W's AFVs & Edenites. Plus even Nik's Nashons & Raubtiers and Zombo's Nuns with Guns. If any of these come about, I'll be one happy Tac Cmd denizen ... :D 8v)
