Whats the thinking behind having rhinos+dreadnoughts in the same retinues?

Just doing the mad run up the table I am guessing. Increases the number in the unit, they are fearless and they have EA MW (+d3)!!

Just saw that and decided to try them out. They add some real hard assault to an already good unit, and their FF ignores cover. I have so many plastic Chaos Dreads that I thought "what the hell, why not".

Also, it's not about getting the best value for my points, it's about the miniatures and options they allow tonight

This is in no way a replacement for Dobbsy's list, but here is the working document I am using based on the discussions on this list. All rights go to Dobbsy on this one, and is not meant to be used in place of. I just thought people would like to keep up with all the adjustments in one document.

It does have the changes I proposed for my game tonight as well which should not be taken as official. These are just my mad ravings

After being berated by someone (you know who you are) :glare: , I have placed the cost of the Daemon Prince back to 50 points and taken away a bloodletter. As I was 5 points under, that takes the force on Page 5 of this thread to 3000 points.

I have also updated the working document link above

Cheers....

It is hamstringing yourself mixing the rhinos and dreds together, I'm not sure you will get much in the way of useful results to assess as a result.

He did use the Rhinos as ablative hits for the Dreadnoughts (essentially 4x5+ saves for 40pts). Didn't matter as one squad just got bombarded down to the BloodLord.

The other squad used the Rhinos to give a bit of extra oomph to an Engagement.

Battle Report to come maybe on the weekend.

It was generally agreed that it would have been a draw and gone to countback. On countback, the World Eaters should have got it. The opponent was re-learning various rules and making some mistakes in engagements.

Overall, I hope the battle report will highlight the various units taken and how they faired under the normal actions that were not errors in the opponent's judgement.

One thing that I will state, without proper shooting ability, skimmers are a thorn in this army's side. I really did miss the backup of a Banelord or Lord of battles in my assaults. Thinking that I should never really leave home without one of these in future army lists. The Brass Scorpions just don't do the same job as these monsters for obvious reasons.

Cheers....

I figure it this way, the rhinos give you 1 round. As soon as you lose one, the whole unit may as well be on foot (to an extent).

At 50 points a pop, the points could have been better used. As stated however, I have so many of these minis, being able to place 6 on the table was a little satisfying - not that they really did anything other than make saves like champs.  :;):

Chaos Dreads: Am I missing something or should we not have choices with these guys? I always invisioned the dread with a plasma cannon on one arm, or is that just so 2nd & 3rd ed 40k and out of date?

 Frogbear did you realise that you still have the stalker in your "alternate" army list?

Yes

Like I said, it was not an alternate list, it was your list with the amendments.   :)

Whether I take that blasphemous abomination (NOT) is entirely my prerogative.

"We hates it, yes....."

Cheers dude.

I am sure we will have more to discuss on this list after the battle report. I have some more ideas on the Juggers, and when I get to the list, there may be some more q's. I had something else yet cannot remember it atm.

Dude

Put your copy up. Mine is just a change version of yours, and was only being used as a reference for the game I was playing. It would be good to get an AC version of the updated list. Change the version to 1.1.x so we all can keep track of it.

As for the change doc, it is good for people to see what changes have been made in one document rather than having to trawl through all the threads and pages.

So, get it up so I can waste more paper with another printout   :;):

Cheers...
