This is way more interesting to read than discussions of actually tweaking a list based on playtesting... :sus:

But if I lock the thread, I might be seen as my attempt to stifle debate... I just can't win...

And, it's hard to play EPIC at work...  :vD

So good you had to say it twice, mkcontra?

It's unreasonable because you yourself have posted "mutliple variants" of the Tyranid lists, including those which are quite divergent, such as your varient of the french list (which has many similarities to the Leviathan list).

Why is it ok for you to post these variants but not for others to do so?

It'd be perfectly reasonable for you to ask E&C to make sure he labels his list as an unofficial, fan list in order to remove any confusion. Why not ask for him to do that instead of asking him not to "release a full army document"?

Where has this been stated?

I don't understand. Are you now saying it's not ok for you to post variants either?

1)  You have posted "multiple variants" including "full army documents", it can be assumed you considered this a reasonable thing to do, else you would not have done so.

2) Now you say you'd prefer there weren't "multiple variants" with "full army documents".

Do you really not see the contradiction?

I'm saying no one has ever stated that there was a restriction on posting variants, or anything else, for anyone on this forum.

Jervis[/b] himself has asked us not to run "mutliple variants" of lists for the Tyranids, I'd prefer if you didn't release a full army document.

Don't you think it's hypocritical to release "multiple variants" with "full army documents" then to tell E&C you'd prefer he didn't do the same?

Don't you think it'd be a lot more reasonable to instead ask E&C to make sure he labels his list as an unofficial, fan list in order to remove any confusion?

Zen and the art of army list maintenance...

And yes, Jervis did ask us to get the core list locked down before spinning off variants.

That's why I regard my list as no more than a set of proposals wrapped in a very pretty bow, which should in no way take precedence over the ERC army list.

There are many proposals in there, from unit stats to special rules, and the modern set of units is no more than a list of what I'd like to see in an ideal Tyranid army list if FW decided put put some new models into production (ie: my proposal for what a good set of units for the Core list would be in an ideal world).

...

Yes, "I'd prefer..." that a variant core list update not be released in close proximity to an "official" core list update.

How is that a restriction or limitation?  It's simply my preference, to prevent confusion.  What is difficult to understand about that?  How is that "hypocritical"?

That isn't what you originally said, or have subsequently said.

Had you asked E&C to delay the release of any updates until after the main list is updated there would not have been any problem. However, that's not what you did.

Clearly Zombocom is unable to find the implied 'at this time' in your statement:
I'd prefer if you didn't release a full army document.

That isn't even remotely what you originally said.

Again, I said:

Actually, since Jervis himself has asked us not to run "mutliple variants" of lists for the Tyranids, I'd prefer if you didn't release a full army document.

Posting your individual Special Rules concepts for discussion is fine, but having "competing" lists running at the same time just diffusing playtesting and splinters the player base.

I didn't give any explanations or in-depth analysis... since I was merely stating a preference.

Well, then allow me to add it now for clarity: "At this time."

Honestly, why would I *help* troubleshoot the list if I never wanted to see it again?  Unless the implication is that I'm insane.

That still reads to me (as it did to frogbear) as you asking for E&C to not post a list at all. Nowhere is it even implied that this request is for a short period of time until you have updated the main list.

"There will be no further train service on this line."

"There will be no further train service on this line for the next hour."

The meaning of, and reaction to these two announcements would be very different.
