Probably a stupid question, but when are Power Fields rolled for?

1) All rolled before the game.
2) Rolled as each relevant unit is deployed.
3) Rolled after all units are set up.

Got an army that has several SuperStompas in it, and would like to know for deployment purposes.

I'm not sure it's specified.

At a tournament, I'd say before deployment, but we never roll them until someone actually hits them - the Orks don't really know how well they are going to hold up until it's put to the test.

That's probably the funniest (and most accurate to theme) rules concept I've seen so far. I'm gonna see how this goes over with the group.

Actually that could be quite a cool clarification to the rule... with neither orks/opponents certain about the state of the ork tech...

In practice I usually roll before deployment. Or if I forget, when fired upon as Neal mentions...

Tried it. Was a blast! Though of the 5 units I used it for, I rolled 5 3's. Mekboy Speedsters are da bomb! Especially when you have 15 activations to 6.

The only problem I had was remembering which units had been rolled for, and had run out, and  which units had not rolled for at all. We corrected that by putting the d6 on a 6 for untested units beside them. With just a Gargant or two, that might not be a problem, but for 8 Speedsters (I need MORE! WAAAGH! ZAPPAZAPPA!), it became a little confusing.
