They're served from the same database server... so, if one is down, they're *both* down.

After further consultation, I have made more changes. Please do keep me informed, specifically from this point onwards and in the next 48 hours.

Thanks.

Just from a technical curiosity point of view, could you tell us what those changes are?

Sure. Essentially, blocking a really bad (so bad, I didnt even recognise it initially!) DoS attack!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

This may have been a significant contributing factor.

EDIT: I am almost flattered that we have grown big enough and important enough to register on the radar of some of these people.

EDIT2: It was the guest-bomb that started me looking, so thanks for that.

Why on earth would anyone target TacComm for a denial of service attack?

The random malice of the internet never ceases to amaze me.

It was probably GW, wanting us to stop playing Epic and start playing 40k.  :vD

Just had my first

Can't connect to mySQL database. User tactical already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections

for a couple of days. Having said that I did get a general web time out error some point yesterday afternoon.

So, aside from the one a couple of days ago (hopefully and glitch in the matrix), does the silence mean that the errors that plagued us have finally been banished?

I've had some quick glitches lasting a minute or so.
