I didnt want to jinx things too early, and I wanted to wait until we had at least one week day done, but it would seem that the most recent round of changes have had a positive affect. While not totally right, we are now experiencing a lot less errors and I have contacted the web hosts who are much happier with the performance.

Therefore, I will continue to monitor the situation, but we can drop down to Defcon 3 for the time being. We can assume that things will settle down to what passes for normal around here. If I hear anything further I will let you all know.

Therefore, I have now turned off the forum function in the Wiki area. If we have more trouble here, I will return it.

Also, please do continue to let me know of any connection errors that you have, either here at the Wiki or the SG boards. If you do get an error, if you can let me know what the error message said, and your local (rough) time, along with which board/section/page you were trying to access, it would help.

Many thanks. I really appreciate the patience and dedication of the community here through the extended and frustrating down time. Thanks guys.

Has forum traffic been as high as at the worst periods?

I would have thought that the 'unseen browsers' may have dropped off during the hiatus, whilst the regulars will have come back quite quickly...

...Thanks for your dedication in serving the Epic community CS.

Has forum traffic been as high as at the worst periods?

I would have thought that the 'unseen browsers' may have dropped off during the hiatus, whilst the regulars will have come back quite quickly..

In terms of the actual number of people viewing these boards, we seem to hover fairly stabily around the 20-30 mark (26 at time of writing). In terms of those members who open a load of threads and windows simultaneously (including me!) I cant tell.

However, my opinion is that this is not solely dependant on the number of people viewing here. These boards are written to cope with a large volume of viewers, and while I am pleased with the success of the forums they are not in the range of a site such as Warseer or other sites/topics. In addition, the web hosts have remarked that the 'zombie spawnings' are significantly reduced (it sounds really cool, though!  8v) ) even compared to the mornings when the boards were activated for only a few hours.

I am hoping that things are back within manageable levels, but I really cant be sure until a number of days have passed - which is why it is important to get an idea of the number and type of errors that people are experiencing.

I guess that to be sure, only time will tell.

PS. Thanks guys. The positive attitude here generally really helps make this place what it is.

"Can't connect to mySQL database. User tactical already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections" error at 13:24 when trying to add a reply.

Couldn't access wiki either.

Back on at 13:30.

At around 14:40 UK GMT I got a "Can't connect to mySQL database. User tactical already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections

This error was reported at: Sources/iDatabase/mySQL.pm line 48, line 64."
I only had a couple of browser tabs open into Tac Com (sometimes I can have as many as a dozen or more - am I bad for doing this / should I limit myself to only a few?) and was in my message box, just trying to reply to a message at the time.
