Space is always a big problem. When I began this project I had come across these cardboard boxes which used to contain A4 sized xerox paper. I designed my city pieces around those measurements. Cheap (well, free) and relatively discrete each box can contain 3 pieces of terrain and looks fairly unsuspicious on top of my closet.

Bravo Warmaster! I love the cityscape. Why not consolidate all of your terrain and put it into the terrain section?

It would make it much easier for me to steal ideas!  :p

Good point. I'll dig out my camera and do a photoshoot. Might as well make one collected thread of the entire project.

Bummer... NEver got around to making that dedicared terrain thread... :S

As mentioned elsewhere I got some of Otterman's Frauenkirche window pieces a few days ago. I've been using them to finish off an old project involving the old Adeptus Titanicus foam buildings. Unfortunately I didn't have quite enough so I made a quick mould and made some plaster of paris copies (I've yet to find a place that sells proper resin, let alone learn the mysteries of resin casting). Not the best solution but as long as the buildings don't get knocked too much about they sould be fine.

I also thought I'd give some old buildings an overhaul. One experiment using a Space Marine + shaped building (with Ottermans gothic window strips) and also the Generator Vulcanis from Titan Legions. The Generator has me particularly excited: As much as I love all the fancy modelling materials avaliable these days (plasticard, arcuitectural fittings etc.etc. There's just something very romantic about going back to the basics and work on something involving cardboard, straws, bits of wood etc. Mabe I'm just beginning to get that rosy look on "the good old days" that comes with age, but sometimes everything seems damn "professional" nowadays. You either go out of your way and scratchbuild a perfect replica from plasticard (or 3d model it) or you buy pre-fabricated stuff (ie. Forgeworld buildings, plastic ruins etc.). There was something about those old WD articles where they'd build fantastic models using common household items that I sometimes seem to forget when I make stuff today.

Ah. Forgot to take photos of the reworked Mekboy Gargant... I'll get back to that later.

i dont know about romantic, but it unquestionably has cheap going for it. the most important scratchbuilding technique in the hobby (imho) is learning to keep an eye pealed for usefull pieces of garbage ! :)

Exactly :) I have to say that I've really enjoyed working on this piece. The original model was made something like 7 or 8 years ago and obviously there's a lot of things I would do differently today. However it is a fun challenge to be forced to work around problems and come up with solutions without completely rethinking the model. I've tried to recycle as many pieces from the original model as possible while still adding more detail and giving it a more industrial look.

I was lucky to find some plastic railing from some old model railroad kit I found in a dumpster. I've never found a good use for it untill now, but after tinkering a bit I think they work pretty well.

Still a few details to work on before I glue it to the base and work on that.

Thanks O-man :)

Still tinkering with the old Titan Legions cardboard buildings. This time it is the Basilica Adeptorium and the two Administratum buildings I've tried to combine into a single colossus of a building. Still WIP with a lot of work to do on the backside in particular.
...With all this heavy grotesque monumental architecture I am beginning to feel like the 41st milennium version of Albert Speer  :_( Why can't the imperium have some more elegant contemporary architecture for a change...  :sigh:

I know what you mean. I'm getting sick to death of Gothic architecture.

Agreed, I love Gothic architecture - and I wish people would build more of it nowadays...  :sigh:

Finished the Basilica Adeptorium

Also I've begun work on an industrial piece. Not quite sure where this is heading. It is based on an old railroad model kit I found in the dumpster (litterally!). Here's a quick mock up f roughly how I plan to put things together so far.

Got a bit bored with the Uni work (currently working on 3 papers simultaneously  :ghost:  ) so I thought I'd have a stab at some 6mm sculpting.

The result is this 6mm skeleton with a rifle. Shoulders need some more work for a smoother finish but otherwise Im fairly satisfied. The hands will also be reworked once I've sculpted the actual weapon.
If the final quality turns out to be OK, I was thinking about asking if Tom wanted to buy it to include in the Edenite Zombie/undead range for EW. I seem to recall he had plans to expanding that race with some skeletons with rifles at some point.
