Looks like I have some standards to measure up to.  I'd need to, er... start it.

my plan is to make silicon molds of the autocannons, then use brass and greenstuff to make a vulcanizable master.

Why are you not using Silicon for the master molds?
as you can get it to take the temperature if you use the right stuff?

Fantastic work BTW, I nearly pooped my pants when i saw the metal master.
Let alone the 3d images. I cant wait to see the 'actual' finished model.

I outsource my metal production, and they can only accept metal or greenstuff masters. The autocannon prints will be in plastic, very unsuitable.

So, I make a silicon mold of the plastic original, then jam brass and greenstuff into the silicon mold.

Bummer  :sulk:  No other printing service offer bronze masters currently? I'm sure you can work out a good result in the end, but the chance of misshaped pieces seem pretty high to me at least.

Either way, it is good to hear that the project is progressing :)

Dam... Beaver?

Eating Shell fish while floating on back... (Sea) Otter?

Making detailed and amazing looking cast models and engendering a forum wide shock and awe... Otterman.

But the tenacity is still true.

For some reason at work today I was suddenly struck with the realisation of my Beaver/Otter metaphore confusion.  Which is embarressing since I am a biologist and should have a better handle on my furry little animals.

Second half of SilentBob's head mold was poured last night.

I received the plastic autocannons with the Gorgonzola yesterday, but haven't inspected them yet.

Converted one of SilentBob's heads with the greenstuff trick. It seems to have turned out OK. Will do another one tonight.

The autocannons look good, in as far as I can determine from a transluscent blue plastic knick-knack. Poured the first half of the mold last night.

Update from Todd Boyce: the second autocannon failed to investment cast in exactly the same way. Will contemplate alternative design.

Greenstuffed another Silentbob head last night, will check this evening. I give the greenstuff a long time to cure.

Taking care of Bella, so my ability to pour more molds is questionable.

Edit - since the issue seems to be air flow coming out of one of the barrels, I may suggest an alternative design with an interconnect, like so:

Opinions?

Wellthe two barrels doens't have to be separate. An indentation (= two tubes adjacent to each other so that they touch each other) would suffice at this scale :)
