I'm kinda tempted to drop by for the experimental day. I may do, I may not.

I was vaguely considering swinging by for the experimental day or whatever it's called, but unfortunately I have other commitments.

:blues:  to cool eh?, shame that high horse of yours won't carry you as far a Nottingham!

Coming to at least 1 epic uk tournament would lend your points some credabilty, as it is your verging on "trolling"/"flaming"?

Excuse me?

All I've done is explain why I'm not a fan of this kind of list, and how that influences my decision not to attend this kind of tournament. I've made it very clear that I think it's perfectly fine for people to play this kind of list if that's the sort of game they want. How exactly is that "flaming" or "trolling"?

And yes, I do have other commitments, volunteer work as it happens. If that makes me "to cool, eh?" then fine.

I'm sorry if you took any of my comments the wrong way, but you're the one being offensive here.

but whats so great with epic is that it is virtually impossible to build a totally abusive list with the tournament approved armies

I hear this a lot, and frankly I disagree. It's pretty easy to make broken lists with several of the Tournament armies. Siegemaster popcorn lists for example, or TRC's legendary 13 Thunderhawks plus a landing craft...

For me, the Black Legion war engine horde is another of the abusable catagories.

If there was one army configutaion clearly better than others I think we would see many clones of it.

The UK tournament scene seems to have a high percentage of BL WE based lists, which have a high win record. (64% out of the 50 games I have logged in my stats system).

But again, I'm not knocking anyone who chooses to play this kind of no-holds-barred game, just explaining why it's not my thing.

How is 4 WEs a horde? nearly every army has 4 WEs

I'd like to see how the siege popcorn army would do if it came again - at least part of its success was that people had never faced it before - a factor which has also initially helped the eldar, BL, LatD and freeks.

I know the London group has their knickers in a twist about the BL but it hasn't proved overly powerful in tourneys- and I found the complaints strange when E&C lost to a 4 WE BL army last year and then said he had only faced one 4 times - after months of complaining about such armies.

IIRC I've never said anything like that.

The game you reference I do remember, it was against a chap called Nathan, and on a day where I did quite well in my other games I never stood a chance against Nathan's WE-heavy list.

But this is old news.  :)

Now Now Ladies. Tournaments and Tournament players are certainly a crucible to test and refine lists that those less masochistic and perhaps more creative members of this community provide. But we do need all perspectives in order to create a rounded solution.

Now if only someone could find a solution to my dice rolls we would have Utopia :D

In the last few years the most dominant lists have been the 4 warhound, 3 thawks with terminators marine army and Tims speed freek skorcha horde. But their lifespan has been very small as a dominant army - look at last year Tims speed freeks were figured out and the only person to bring that arine army came last in that tourney.

If you look at the BL Nathans army had 4 WEs - nearly every other army will have as many or more WEs. As to its power Nathan has done considerably better with marines than BL. The only BL armies (IIRC) to win tourneys have been mine with 3 WEs - less than most armies.

Bl did have a good win % last year but the year before it was mid-pack it just depends which stats you use to support your view.

I did not mean to cause offence- it was meant as a friendly challenge... laying down the gauntlet! You need only consider it a learning experience!

Accusing me of being on a high horse, saying my views have no credability and accusing me of "trolling"/"flaming" is not a "friendly challenge".

Regardless, as I said, E&C was trying to convince me to come on Sunday, but as I said, I'm busy.

I'm looking forward to plying Mark's BL,I thought it was one of the weaker lists thats been named.
As for it being WE heavy what about the 2 IG lists with 5 WE's,if Mark W. takes the list he tried the last 2 weeks there will be 3.
I find that most of the feared "power" lists are much easier to beat when I've played them 2 or 3 times and I can adjust my tactics .

I think it's that they are Black Legion War Engines that's the scary thing; I'd not be scared of 5 Baneblades... but 2 Ferals and 2 Death Wheels intimidates me much more.

Ginger really has a lot to answer for!

I don't think Marks list is that bad in truth. All the nightwings worry me more.

I found the Ferals are as easy to deal with as Warhounds, the Death wheels do seem trickier but atleast I can rely on my ability to roll critcals just at the right time :D
