Just a quick note to let you know that I am aware that we have had a few database connection issues recently. I am chasing the web hosts on this to see if we can either up the limit, or fix it somehow.

Please bear with me on this.

(Of course, if you are experiencing these problems... you cant read this...!)

It depends on the time of day that you access... I blame the Americans!      Basically, more people are drifting in here and accessing the boards. At high traffic times this breaks the maximum number of connections allowed to the database.

It is also now starting to affect the Community Sector/Wiki. I continue to investigate a resolution.

I had more problems with it last week - but this week it seems really slow when on taccoms (over a minute to bring up some threads)

Yes. I thought that things were getting better about a week ago, but they got bad again this week (by my experiences).

The bad news is that the current hosts are of the opinion that we have 'outgrown shared hosting' and perhaps should look at getting a 'virtual private server or dedicated server' for the site. This is not a cheap option. Especially for a site that generates no income. It reminds me of the problems that TGN had a couple of months ago.  

I will continue to investigate.

CS, is this a size issue or number of connections? I assume number of connections from the error message.
