Hm, you do not have to check more ranges than for positioning for an assault. You also get no magic bullets, you only can use more shots (seeker missiles) on the marked formation than unmarked.

It´s much like the Eldar double activation assault. 1st formation lights up, second one sustaines the marked formation on range. This is like I think Markerlights should work for the Tau.

How about this...we're not going to change what we agreed upon earlier.

There may be merit to this idea, but for all intents and purposes, this new approach will not be in the list that is in the final edit stages for testing.

Reasons:

1. It introduces completely new dynamics to MLs, the effect of which to the rest of the list are largely unknown.

2. Although we moved rather quickly to address what were the perceived issues, that is when this issue should have been brought up. I even asked multiple times, "Are we good to go?"

3. There are almost always multiple ways of solving a problem. Some more valid than others, but still it is very rare that a problem can't be approached from multiple angles. So, again, there is probably merit in this approach, but I have yet to see where it is superior a solution to what is already in the mix. Different? Certainly, but not superior and in some cases I see the Law of Unintended Consequences starting to raise its head.

What I am more concerned about right now is getting us a list that we can test. A couple of weeks ago, there might have been time to work up a rough concept and even play test. However, we are past that point now and it is not worth risking the whole for the sake of one feature.

So at the risk of possibly ticking off a few of you, I'd rather do that now and have us get over it, then think that this discussion is going to lead to changes in a key mechanism so close to release.

I am not purposely trying to be a stick in the mud, but any action on this is going to have to wait.

You are right, Honda, stick with the ML-mechanic as it is now, but the idea is not forgotten, I promise     :glare:

That's fair, Honda. I just wanted to throw the idea out before I forgot it.

I agree. No need to stuff this idea NOW in thel ist. Lets playtest the new version and then show if this idea has a place :)
