Hi,
I would like to put here my terrain efforts,
Starting with the new buildings for my imperial resource gathering station.
The base tanks are from children cheese sweets for my kid, I figured better to put them to good use instead of dumping them to the trash.
Also detailed with some bits of plasticard remains.
The platforms were made from plasticard.

Hope to hear your feedback and ideas,
Eyal :).

Those look good, it's amazing what a little extra plasticard can do for what otherwise would be trash.

Cool idea! Are you going to apply a rough coat or are you going to keep them smooth?

Yeah, a little roughcoat would be interesting. Perhaps try one model with, one without?

Hi,
I'm keeping them smooth to suggest they are made of steel (and some scratching in metal color :))..
I also think to put some containers to break the even color. But now that you mention it maybe i should add some dust and dirt to show it is not maintained?
Eyal.

I would weather the hell out of them then. Long drips of rusty brown and oranges. Maybe even a base coat of tin bitz worked up to silver?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in my reply, I didn't notice you posted a message Malakai  :vo
Yep I'll wather it a lot.

But first step is to paint it, and I sprayed the base colors of the things.

For some details I ordered a couple of Old crow models containers which are very nicely done and hopefully will add some interesting details to the cargo bays.

Hope to hear your ideas and feedback,
Eyal :)

hi,
I continued with the hills, washing them with raw umber and drybrushing burnt umber + naple yellow. Next some flock was sprinkled on white glue dilluted with water.

I think of brushing dilluted white glue on the flock when it dries to seal it, I hope it won't ruin it.

I wanted to try and do some eldar terrain, this is how it goes so far, there is still lot of work to do, but it is fun :)..

Wow! That piece of Eldar terrain is looking promising!

The hills came out nice too. Now where have I heard the color combo "burnt umber and naple yellow" before?  :;):

Edit: I think of brushing dilluted white glue on the flock when it dries to seal it, I hope it won't ruin it.

Why take the chance? I would just give it a light coat of spray varnish.

Hi,
Thanks, Malakai I couldn't remember where in which blog I found that awesome color mix, thanks for that, it works great  :D

I'll have to find a varnish spray then. Only problem we don't have the modelling type here, only for wood, but I'll have to try :).

Eyal.

You may be better off just using diluted PVA (white craft) glue to seal the hills as a spray on varnish may eat polystyrene (even though you may think it's sealed).

Just mix up a spray bottle of PVA/water (say about 1 PVA/10 water) and spray it over the whole thing. A couple of coats will be better than 1. PVA dries clear so no real chance of ruining the hills.

Looking forward to more terrain mate.

Cheers,
Steve.

Hi,
Thanks, I went for the dilluted PVA and it works great. It melted the color of the flock a bit and actually softened it which is also cool.

The landing platform are done, added some highlights, and a wash to finish the painting.
Some flock around the base, and containers from old crow which were painted and wash burnt sienna for some rusty appearance.

Thanks for watching,
Eyal.
